If you’re an avid fan of the Negroni, you’d be familiar with the annual Negroni Week, an initiative by Campari and Imbibe magazine. Since 2013, the Negroni Week has been celebrating the quintessential nightcap with a fundraising goal for charities across the world. So far, around S$4.2 million has been raised for charity worldwide.
This year marks the milestone 10th anniversary of Negroni Week in Singapore, which puts the spotlight on the Bartender Handshake. A ritual in the bartending industry, a Bartender Handshake is a gesture of welcoming friends with small cocktails and shots on the house in bars.
From 12 to 18 September, 10 bars will be participating in the Bartender Handshake movement. They include The Bar at 15 Stamford, 28 Hong Kong Street, Atlas, Nutmeg & Clove, Smoke & Mirrors. Each bar will be presenting their rendition of the Handshake Negroni. In addition, fans of the well-loved Italian cocktail can also look forward to sip on creative renditions of the Negroni from the various bars. Participating bars are encouraged to donate a portion of sales from the cocktails throughout the week to a Singapore-based charity of their choice.
