House Tour: 3-storey home with contemporary art and an open bath

Architology created a home with a timeless contemporary look filled with plenty of cool art and a daring open bath.

by Home & Decor  /   May 20, 2022

What does it mean when someone refers to a home’s design as being ‘timeless’? Very often, it can be difficult for an interior designer to propose a look that can withstand trends and passing fads. Yet, that’s exactly what the design team at Architology achieved with this three-storey home in Jalan Chempedak.

The open-plan layout, coupled with a simple colour theme and subtle lighting contributes to the endearing nature of this home. The straight-forward design allows the artworks to take centre stage, while keeping the interiors looking elegant and inviting.

It’s a look that the homeowners won’t tire of easily, and can always be refreshed with a change of the art on the walls. It’s a win-win situation for homeowners who are looking for interiors that are easy to maintain as well as for those who want the option of giving their rooms a new look without much fuss whenever they feel like it.

With a narrow and long plot of land, the designers proposed a simple layout that merges the living and dining spaces on the ground floor. The visual connection between the areas are enhanced with recessed lighting that makes the space feel open and spacious.

The design team proposed a series of concealed cabinetry without handles to add to the clean and uncluttered look. Most of the panels and walls are in white, accented by the dark-coloured furnishing and accessories.

In order to add depth and texture to the layout, a green wall was erected at the far end of the room.

From the dining area, one can also look out onto the porch and entrance to the home. Full-height glass doors allow the interiors to flow onto the porch outside.

The well-curated artworks along one side of the room make the living room feel like a chic gallery.

The counter in the dry kitchen provides a space for the homeowners to entertain.

The airwell above the dining area also allows natural light to fill the space during the day, bringing a sense of liveliness and warmth to the ground floor area.

The clean lines of the cabinetry contrast beautifully with the natural look of the green wall.

The glass rails along the stairs give it a floating effect.

The bench seating and long table create a casual but inviting dining space neat to the kitchen counter.

The common bathroom or powder room is finished in black tiles and a black counter.

One of the outstanding features of the home has to be the open bath design in the master bedroom.

The show stopping design makes one feel like being in a luxurious urban resort.

For the sleeping area, the design has been toned down to create a soothing and calming ambience.
