In exactly five words, how would you describe what you do to someone you’re meeting for the first time?
We offer amazing vacation experiences!
How has the definition of luxury travel changed since pre-pandemic times versus now?
The global pandemic has brought about a shift in the mindset of travellers. Post-pandemic, we observed that personal space and personal services have become important elements of luxury travel. There are many contributing factors, but the pandemic has given rise to more travellers being conscious of wanting more personal space. They are also willing to spend money after a long absence of travel during the pandemic lockdown.
At Resorts World Cruises (RWC), this is clearly visible with our Palace offerings, A-Ship-Within-A-Ship exclusive enclave that features a myriad of luxurious Palace Accommodations. Additional enhanced privileges include access to the VIP lounge with priority check-in and out, exclusive complimentary dining at the Palace restaurant and speciality restaurants, a private pool, and other amenities. Our Palace guests will also be pampered with our signature 24-hour butler service.

How does RWC strike a balance between preserving timeless elegance and incorporating cutting-edge innovations to meet the changing preferences of affluent travelers?
Striking a balance is always essential and an art in many ways. As the only homegrown Asian cruise line, we have a deep rooted strong Asian heritage that is reflected in our hospitality and services. At RWC, we strive to continuously deliver best-in-class service, and that will never change. Human interaction is key to creating a positive, lasting memory and experience.
Having said that, we need to constantly innovate and complement these “human touches” with the latest and most relevant offerings. These include creating a seamless experience prior, while onboard, and post-cruise — be it with the processes, technologies, or connections on the ship.
How does RWC integrate sustainability practices into the core of its luxury cruise experiences?
Sustainability is vital across various industries, including the cruise sector. Modern travellers are well-informed and prefer companies that share their values. At RWC, we’re unwavering in our commitment to responsible environmental practices. We uphold a high standard of responsibility to protect the environment where we operate. Our efforts encompass energy efficiency, fuel and water conservation, waste reduction, increased recycling, marine life protection, and the prevention of oil pollution.

For example, the Genting Dream features Eniram trim optimisation and an advanced silicone-based hull coating to enhance water flow and fuel efficiency. Our ship utilises an Exhaust Gas Cleaning System (EGCS) to minimise emissions. Furthermore, our biowaste treatment system includes dryers for incineration or offloading waste materials.
Additionally, we support local communities during shore excursions by promoting local businesses, arts and crafts, and eco-friendly activities like jungle tracking, cycling, and walking tours.

How does RWC design shore excursions and on-board activities that offer unique encounters, far from the usual tourist routes?
At each destination, vacationers have the choice to explore different itineraries, or our team can tailor something for you. Sometimes it may not always be off-beaten path experiences, but more personalised shore excursions at the convenience of the guests.
Luxury travel often overlaps with the desire for wellness experiences. How does RWC cater to this growing trend?
On our ships, the Genting Dream and the Resorts World One offer a variety of Wellness experiences, from spas and massages, fitness training and workshops to dining venues that serve wellness cuisine. In addition, we also organise various thematic cruises on the ship to enhance our guests’ experiences. Wellness thematic cruises in the past have proven to be very popular, with special events catering to all walks of life.

When you look at the state of the world today, what is the one thing that gives you hope?
It gives me great joy to see how resilient the cruise industry is and how it has rebounded from the global pandemic. It’s very inspiring to see how cruise lines, their crews, and staff all over the world are gaining momentum and travellers are gaining confidence once again in cruising. I am confident that the cruise tourism industry will continue to thrive and contribute to the overall growth of the travel trade in Asia and globally.
