Hermes’ flagship store in Singapore is transformed this month into a gallery of whimsy and surprise with its Through The Walls exhibit, specially created for Singapore. On display: the brand’s diverse collection of home furnishing and bespoke creations, artfully presented by set designers Jean-Christophe Vaillant and Herve Sauvage.
In their hands, meticulously crafted objects – from tableware to lighting, wallpaper and furniture – come to life in fantastical vignettes, and the store becomes a place to investigate and wonder. Here, leather, which harks back to Hermes’ roots as a saddlemaker, is used in imaginative ways, as is bamboo crafted with carbon fibre and steel to form seats.
The installations’ centrepiece is Hermes’ latest addition to its range of customised cabinet of curiosities – a closet for scarves that resembles a leather wallet from the outside and stores up to 130 pieces. Made for collectors, both of scarves and objet d’art. Through The Walls runs from Oct 7 to 29. #01-02A Liat Towers.
