Your mind and body are intrinsically interlinked, and more self-sufficient than you think. According to an article on cellular aging and psychological functioning by the University of California San Francisco, mindfulness meditation can improve physical health symptoms across a variety of disorders, showing an increase to one’s quality of life. There appears to be a correlation between increased mindfulness, decreased stress levels, reduced cellular aging and increased positive arousal states.
Then there’s the belief that your body can improve its healing capabilities all on its own, it simply needs a push in the right direction. A busy schedule especially means that you cannot take your psychological needs for granted. Put simply, your mind needs to be strong to keep your body going.
As such, The Peak has curated a list of several meditation studios and establishments you can join to get you started toward a healthier and more conscious lifestyle.

Space 2B
Nestled between the busy streets of Chinatown resides Space 2B, a quaint, minimalist meditation space that offers mentorship, private sessions, as well as other mindfulness activities such as yoga and sound healing.
Within their meditation class options, they have quite a variety. Their “Active Meditation in the City” and “Mind to Heart Meditation” classes work on rejuvenation and focus for busy individuals that would benefit from some mental grounding. “Yoga Nidra” is a session for those who suffer from more long-term distresses such as insomnia, pain, PTSD, or simply for those who would like to include physicality in their meditation. “TRE” or “Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercise” helps with releasing deep muscular tensions within the body through reflexive muscle vibrations. And finally, their Tantric meditations and Sound Healing take from the ancient Tantric practice to invoke soothing, and other psychological stimulations.

COMO Shambhala Urban Escape
This modern establishment located within a relatively quiet mall offers a respite from the hustle and bustle of Orchard Road.
Aside from a variety of yoga and Pilates classes, COMO Shambhala also does spa treatments in the form of massages. Additionally, their studio has a variety of amenities including changing rooms, washrooms with showers and a retail lounge – it’s essentially an intimate conscious- wellness world of its own.
Unfortunately, they don’t offer group meditation classes, but specialists are available for private meditation and mindfulness sessions, which would allow for a more focused and curated experience. Sound baths are also available for those who prefer the famously soothing, increasingly conventional style of meditation.

Nirvana Mind
Founder of Nirvana Mind, Helen Clare Rozario has relied on Mindfulness and Meditation (M+M) to overcome her alcoholism, addiction and mental illness. It was through this healing journey that she was inspired to emphasize M+M as a life-changing exercise, and it became her purpose in life to guide others towards it as well.
While she does not have a studio space, packages include one on one online consultations, group guided meditations and a plethora of reading and audio resources. If personal meditation sessions are preferred there is also a package option for one on one with Rozario, the 4-week course package having that option as well.
If you just want to dip your toes in, there is also a 15 mins wellness consultation to get acquainted with Rozario before taking a leap of faith into the realm of M+M.

The Yoga School
The studio aptly refers to itself as “a sanctuary in the sky”, not simply for its soul-lifting yoga meditation classes, but also because it is located on the top of the recognizable OCBC building in the middle of CBD. The yoga school’s high grad changing rooms and spa-like lounges attest to its luxurious feel, not to mention the panoramic view of the city.
Yoga classes available also range from “Begin” to “Dharma” to “Gokul Yoga” to “Yoga Nidra” with a few of levels for each, and a variety more. Regardless of which you decide to embark on, it would be hard not to gain some perspective when you’re doing breathing exercises among the clouds.
