Innovation in the coffee world is constantly helping to create new machines with improved performances for better brews. But while industrial innovations advance, the aesthetics of this kitchen essential aren’t necessarily evolving. That is what drove Californian design studio Montaag to create something new.
The designers created the “AnZa” espresso machine, available in white with wood details or in concrete, echoing Brutalist artworks.
The designers’ aim was to bring materials that are rarely used in the kitchen into this kind of space, turning the machine into a truly decorative and functional creation.
After four years in development, the design studio will open a crowdfunding campaign in August 2017 to fund the project. The first machines will be available early in 2018. The two models can currently be admired in the London department store Selfridges in the UK.
