UiPath: Changing businesses with its robotic process automation software

What makes UiPath the world’s leading robotic process automation software company? Thomas Chin, VP of sales in Asia Pacific, offers insights.

Digitalisation has become commonplace for companies looking to optimise their work processes. When Singtel had the goal of implementing enterprise-wide automation to improve work efficiency, UiPath’s RPA programme turned out to be the solution.

Thomas Chin, VP of sales, Asia Pacific (pictured above), shares his thoughts on how important RPA has become and how UiPath can help educate people about automation and its importance in the future of business.

How important has RPA become in recent years and how has UiPath established itself as the world’s leading RPA software company?
RPA – technology that helps users use software “robots” to perform and automate tasks – allows organisations to automate at a fraction of the cost and time it takes other information technology solutions. Recent reports on the RPA industry have projected a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 32.6 per cent from 2019 to 2025 to reach US$7.2 billion by 2025.

UiPath has invested heavily in product development, launching additional offerings like AI Fabric, Automation Hub, UiPath Insights which help simplify the way users implement, control, and analyse their RPA processes respectively. We have also made two strategic acquisitions in 2019 – ProcessGold and StepShot – which expand our solution portfolio to cover data processing and document workflow software to address the entire end-to-end automation lifecycle. This supports what Gartner predicts as hyperautomation and one of the top 10 strategic technology trends for 2020.

How do you make training accessible to workers who aren’t tech-savvy?
UiPath’s approach is to offer different types of training curriculum for different roles. UiPath Academy provides role-based learning plans matching the skills and seniority needed for specific roles, and starter courses on RPA awareness and Build Your First Automation for citizen developers and end users of RPA.

How does UiPath Academy help to educate workers about RPA and other automation processes?
UiPath offers its learning curriculum to anyone who wishes to learn RPA skills on their own. In the last six months, UiPath has enhanced curriculum offerings with more courses and learning plans to cater to different RPA roles. Each RPA role can now have access to starter, foundational, and advanced learning roadmaps leading to certification.

We also work with universities and tertiary institutions to incorporate RPA into their academic courses through our UiPath Academic Alliance programme.

With digitalisation and automation growing rapidly in every industry, what are UiPath’s plans for the future of automation?
Our plan is to continue to enable robots to learn new skills through artificial intelligence and machine learning, combining them with a full suite of capabilities, which includes process mining and analytics to deliver an end-to-end hyper automation platform.

We remain fully committed to our vision of One Robot for Every Person by continuing to invest in the democratisation of RPA skills through ease of development, cloud availability, and free and open training. UiPath aims to bring RPA skills to millions of people around the world, improving business productivity, employee engagement, and customer experience.
