Breakfast can be coffee and a sandwich scarfed down at your desk; or it could a Tolkiensian affair, with heaping mounds of bacon, eggs, and toast. Allow yourself the luxury of the latter once in a while and hit these spots.
The English House
We’re not going to hide the fact that you can get an English-style breakfast almost at any cafe in Singapore, but few places do it with the same panache as The English House. Marco Pierre White has slapped his name on the project, so the first thing you naturally get is the classics done right: eggs benedict with proper, butter-rich hollandaise; and of course, a traditional full English breakfast complete with Wiltshire pork sausages, free-range, organic eggs (which are used for every item), and grilled mushrooms. There’s even omelette Arnold Bennett – a savoury, creamy mess of eggs and smoked haddock that you’ll be hard-pressed to find elsewhere in Singapore. If the eclectic, verdant decor isn’t a good enough accompaniment to your breakfast, every order also comes with a choice of fresh juices, coffee, or tea; as well as extra sourdough bread.

Como Cuisine
Como Cuisine has revamped its menu, and this one is a doozy. It’s not just superfood shakes and ancient grain bowls now, as they’ve embraced some of the favourites from the different Como properties all around the world to curate a list of hearty dishes that still manages to be nourishing – for both body and soul. For breakfast, there’s the option of a crispy masala dosai, a “classic” from Como Cocoa Islands in the Maldives; or something a little more continental, like vanilla French toast, prepared with house-baked brioche, stuffed with bananas, and served alongside strawberry jam. Other highlights include savoury, moreish 7-grain waffle served with smoked trout, zucchini, and creme fraiche. Good news for regulars too – you can still get your acai fix, here in the form of a jasmine-scented chia seed trifle with fruits, coconut yogurt, and crunchy granola.
Breakfast available weekdays 8am – 12pm

Antoinette
French pastry stalwart Antoinette has moved its outpost from Mandarin Gallery to Millenia Walk, and with the move comes plenty of brand-new morning options. Exclusive to the new outlet is a breakfast menu, and European-style sandwiches. Feast on a full-monty style plate complete with sourdough, eggs, grilled tomatoes, roasted potatoes, and a salad; or scrambled eggs with mushroom-sausage gravy. For a quick meal or takeaway, there’s a sandwich menu that includes a chef’s take on the ubiquitous sausage (Mc)muffin with homemade pork sausage patty, egg, and cheese. If your tastes are a little more local, there’s an ondeh ondeh kaya toast, served with airy ciabatta and French butter. Antoinette – perhaps more known for their cakes and sweets – has also recently launched a series of over 30 viennoiserie, European breads, and Japanese-style water roux buns. Think a luxed-up version of your trusty neighbourhood bakery – highlights include a fluffy, slightly sweet bun filled with creme Chantilly; and baguette toast stuffed to the gills with laksa ingredients including homemade rempah, coconut bechamel, fresh prawns, egg and cheese.
