Boulevard 88’s four penthouse units have been snapped up. The largest 6,049 sq ft penthouse was sold for over $30 million.

Boulevard 88, the new freehold luxury development in prime district 10, achieved in less than two weeks, a sales value of more than $160 million at $3,600 per sq ft, when sales commenced in March this year. The prestigious project along Orchard Boulevard is City Developments Limited’s (CDL) latest success in a line of notable launches in the last three years that include South Beach Residences, New Futura and Gramercy Park.

All the developments bear CDL’s hallmark of highly coveted locations, forward-thinking design, stunning aesthetics, and admirable attention to the finer details of exquisite living. All of which have contributed to the steady upward trend in the prices of the company’s luxury offerings, a 38 per cent increase from $2,600 per sq ft to $3,600 per sq ft in just three years.

If it’s not clear enough from the solid numbers that CDL is doing something right, and helping to fuel the comeback of the luxury property market, the company has also racked up some impressive accolades.

In 2018, it was the first and only private-sector property developer to be accorded the inaugural Built Environment Leadership Platinum Star Award by the Building and Construction Authority (BCA), an honour only conferred upon organisations that have held the Built Environment Leadership Platinum Award for at least five years. This was in recognition of its leadership in shaping a safe, high-quality, and sustainable built environment in Singapore. CDL was also the only developer to win the Quality Excellence Award – Quality Champion Platinum for seven consecutive years.

CREATING ARCHITECTURAL MARVELS

Known for its ability to create distinctive landmarks and establish new benchmarks, especially pertaining to design innovation, sustainable living, smart homes and signature residential services, CDL is one of Singapore’s top-selling developers for good reason.

Boulevard 88, for instance, is described as “an art piece created by a master”, a nod to the world-renowned architect Moshe Safdie and 2019 Wolf Prize Laureate in Architecture. Integrated with The Singapore EDITION Hotel, conceived by Ian Schrager and Marriott International, and a first in Singapore, Boulevard 88 created a great buzz for both local and foreign buyers.

Nearby, located on Leonie Hill and just 10 minutes’ walk from Orchard Road, New Futura’s two soaring towers with their futuristic curves are another iconic addition to the downtown skyline. Designed by internationally renowned, award-winning architectural firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP (SOM), the freehold development is nearly fully sold since its launch in 2018.

Another prime development by CDL is Gramercy Park, designed by American global architect NBBJ, along Grange Road, which features a sweeping Grand Lawn that conjures up images of elegant picnics and garden weddings, as well as spacious apartments with full-length windows, generously-sized balconies and top-of-the-line kitchen appliances from Gaggenau, and bathroom fittings from Axor by Hansgrohe and Geberit.

INNOVATION IN GREEN ARCHITECTURE

CDL, a pioneer in championing environmental sustainability and green innovation since the 1990s, has been pushing sustainable design and practices in building long before it became de rigueur.

Besides pushing the envelope in architecture and design, CDL’s efforts can also be seen in South Beach Singapore (a joint-venture with IOI Properties Group Berhad).

The undulating microclimatic canopy is not just pleasing to the eye, but also engineered to filter out heat, convert sunlight into electricity and maximise ventilation. The building’s distinctive shape is designed for rainwater harvesting and its spectacular high-performance glass exterior shields against the sun’s glare while offering clear views from within. It also has more than 150,600 sq ft of greenery and foliage on its grounds and in the gardens within the building, all of which absorb carbon dioxide and help to reduce noise and heat.

For its clever green technologies and sustainability measures, the South Beach integrated development garnered the Green Mark Platinum Award and the FIABCI Singapore Property Award in the Sustainable Development category.

THE NEXT LEVEL OF RESIDENTIAL SERVICES

Through CDL’s London-listed hotel subsidiary Millennium & Copthorne Hotels plc, the company has vast experience in providing superb hospitality experiences, and this has translated to unique signature residential services provided in its luxury developments.

On top of standard services such as laundry, housekeeping, and mail and courier services, for example, residents have access to professional residential hosts who can help with the hiring of private chefs and co-planning of events, as well as travel reservations, pet care services, and on-call personal trainers at the in-house gym.

UPPING THE ANTE ON THE HIGH LIFE

In terms of facilities, Amber Park, the company’s latest freehold development in the East Coast area, has set the bar high. Designed by Chan Soo Khian, award-winning principal architect of SCDA Architects, it features a stunning rooftop, The Stratosphere, that connects the estate’s three residential towers. The 32,507 sq ft recreational deck comes with a 600m jogging track, yoga deck, spa pool, gourmet dining, lounge and landscape garden, all set against a panorama of sky and sea, 235 ft above sea level.

On level one, there’s a 50m lagoon pool, lagoon cove, hydrotherapy pool, fitness court, forest trail, barbeque pavilion and private dining at Club Amber. With the three towers occupying just 35 per cent of the sprawling site, Amber Park is unparalleled in the amount of recreational space it offers. Little wonder, then, that it was the bestselling freehold project launch this year, with 77 per cent of 150 launch units snapped up over its launch weekend in May.
