Distinguished by criss-crossing elastic laces, the Triple Stitch sneaker by Ermenegildo Zegna become one of the signature shoe models for the brand. The Triple Stitch has been done in plenty of materials and colours, as well as in low-cut and mid-cut variations. And why not, indeed?
There’s plenty to like about their ease (their laces allow them to be pulled on as easily as a pair of slip-ons), as well as their aesthetic, which is refined (no crazily oversized anything here) while being distinctive enough, thanks to the laces that are inspired by Zegna’s mark of craftsmanship, the XXX stitch.
Now, the Triple Stitch sneaker gets its latest update courtesy of superstar DJ Steve Aoki. Having recently joined Ermengildo Zegna as part of the brand’s Modern Voices community, the Grammy-nominated DJ, producer and entrepreneur has put his own spin on the footwear. Only 77 pairs of these sneakers will be produced, and each pair is personally fitted to the buyer.
Making each pair one of a kind, too, is a unique edition number on the back of each sneaker, which comes in grey suede and is also lined with leather. These limited editions are distinguished by the vibrant blue accents used for the lightweight, flexible rubber outsole (which usually comes in white) and the XXX laces. Blue is Aoki’s signature colour: In his 2019 memoir, Blue: The Colour of Noise, he writes that the hue has come to define him as the colour of water, which “we need to help all the seeds we plant in our lives to flow into something meaningful and purposeful.”
Steve Aoki’s Limited Edition Triple Stitch sneakers retail for US$1,075 (about S$1,453) and each pair takes four to six weeks to arrive. Find out more here.
