With designs paying tribute to modern and pop-culture icons ranging from space exploration to Space Invaders, RJ-Romain Jerome has carved a niche for itself in the luxury-timekeeping universe. So, who better than the Geneva-based company to create a watch to celebrate the 75th anniversary of DC Comics’ superhero Batman?
Presented in a 46mm black PVD-coated steel case, the Batman-DNA watch bears all the hallmarks of Gotham City’s famous vigilante. Taking its stylistic cues from the angular contours of the Batmobile, the black bezel features bold, machine-worked facets. Despite an all-black palette, the lacquered Batman emblem at the centre of the dial stands out with its defined lines and glossy finish – especially in dim lighting, when it becomes a Bat-Signal of sorts, thanks to its Superluminova-treated outline.
What Manuel Emch, CEO of RJ-Romain Jerome, terms as Batman’s “double identity” and “duality” also served to inspire the ruggedly textured finish on the rest of the dial, which contrasts strikingly with the smooth finish of the Batman emblem.
Powered by an automatic movement with a 42-hour power reserve, the Batman-DNA is available in a limited edition of 75 pieces.
