Once upon a time, Academy Awards-bound men simply threw on a black-and-white tuxedo, and let their female counterparts bask in the style spotlight (or, as the case might be, receive the fashion brickbats).

Today – well, many still do the same. But we’re definitely seeing more peacocking (or at least, much sharper-looking tuxes) at the Oscars these days, thanks to the likes of hip-hop mogul and Chanel muse Pharrell Williams; and actor Jared Leto, best bud of red-hot Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele.

With that in mind, we pit some of our favourite couples against each other in a fashion face-off, with just one question: Who’s the real arm candy?
