Following its cream lacquered-dial predecessor that was launched in 2017, the latest iteration of Patek Philippe’s Ref. 5320G-11 Perpetual Calendar features an opaline rose gold dial. The 40mm white gold timepiece is powered by the self- winding Calibre 324 S Q.

Tracking the date, day, week, month and years automatically until the year 2100 if kept wound, perpetual calendar wristwatches typically have busy dials. Not the Luminor Perpetual Calendar, which boasts the legibility synonymous with Panerai timepieces. It shows the day and date indications on the front, and tucks away the other calendar displays on the back. The self-winding watch is housed in a 44mm Goldtech case.

Melding horological complexity with elegant sleekness, the Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Perpetual Calendar Ultra-thin is powered by the ultra-thin in-house calibre 1120 QP. Cased in white gold, the 36.5mm watch features a shimmering blue-grey mother of pearl dial that is framed by a gem-set bezel.

Another new timepiece demonstrating the beauty of high complications in compact sizes, the 40mm IWC Portofino Perpetual Calendar is currently the smallest perpetual calendar in the brand’s collection. Available in 5N gold (shown) or steel, the self-winding timepiece is powered by the 82650 in-house movement.

Powered by the HMC 800 manual-winding calibre, the H. Moser Heritage Perpetual Calendar Midnight Blue Enamel features an ingenious perpetual calendar indication. In this 42mm white gold watch, the hour indexes double as month indicators — when it’s December, for instance, the smallest central hand points at 12 o’clock. The date at 3’clock jumps instantly at midnight, and automatically takes into account the differing month lengths as well as leap years.

For those who like their watches to visibly pack in plenty of information, this Longines Master timepiece delivers in a 40mm steel case. Along with a chronograph, the automatic watch offers plenty of calendar displays: A scale on the rim of the dial shows the date, while the day and month displays are integrated with the 30-minute chronograph subdial at 12 o’clock.

Housed in a 42mm pink gold case, the Polaris Perpetual Calendar by Jaeger-LeCoultre presents the perpetual calendar complication in a sporty package. Four subdials show all the calendar indications — year, month, day, date and moon phases. Especially of note is the lunar indicator, where the main display reflects the moon phase in the Northern Hemisphere while a retrograde hand shows that in the Southern Hemisphere.

Breguet is known for its hand-guilloche dials, which bear engravings executed using rose engine lathes dating back to the 18th century. It shows off this savoir-faire to stunning effect on creations such as the Classique 7337 calendar watch. The 39mm white-gold timepiece features a dial with a mix of guilloche motifs — grain d’orge on the rim, clous de Paris in the centre and damier checkerboard on the off-centre seconds subdial.
