Montblanc and Ferrari reunite on a Daytona SP3-inspired fountain pen

The limited-edition pen, which costs $37,000, is limited to 599 pieces worldwide.

In the world of all-too-common luxury collaborations, it takes a rare breed to get us excited. Enter Montblanc and Ferrari’s latest co-branded writing instrument, a special edition pen that pays tribute to the Prancing Horse’s newest model in their Icona Range, the Ferrari Daytona SP3.

The Montblanc Ferrari Stilema SP3 Limited Edition takes artistic direction from Flavio Manzoni, Ferrari’s chief design officer, so you can be sure that the Montblanc bears all of the design hallmarks and architecture you’d expect from a Ferrari, transposed onto a pen.

Standout stylistic elements on the Stilema (meaning ‘style’) include a unique aerodynamic silhouette – a first for the German manufacturer – moulded to replicate the Daytona SP3, itself an homage to ’60s-era race cars.

The fountain pen’s cap and barrel are hewn from lightweight titanium, a material rarely used by Montblanc, so-chosen for its similarity to the Daytona SP3’s nose as it slices through the air.

The cap, laser-etched with Ferrari’s iconic Prancing Horse logo, is also angled to resemble the racer’s nose, while lined accents along the barrel evoke the distinctive style of the car’s bumpers.

Possibly the pen’s most striking design feature is the semi-transparent red blade that cuts through the tail-end of the barrel, sliding back to reveal a hidden ink filling mechanism that was specially designed by Montblanc for the collab.

A handcrafted Au 750 solid white gold nib, featuring a special ‘SP3’ engraving, completes the luxurious writing experience.
It is priced at a hefty US$27,500 (S$36,600) and limited to 599 pieces worldwide, just like the supercar it was inspired by when it released in 2022.

Montblanc and Ferrari have collaborated previously in 2021, having worked together to produce a pen inspired by the Prancing Horse’s founder, Enzo Ferrari.
