The days of imbibing store-bought and bottled makgeolli are over, as Joo restaurant and bar is serving up the Korean rice beer freshly brewed by owners Jamie and Kristin Lim.
The pair picked up their technique in Korea, and make their preservative-free makgeolli using organic rice and purified water.
To start, order the sampler to share, which comes with the signature home brew and in-house selections like yuja (Korean citron), peach and mango.
The drinks pair well with dishes like hand-minced Korean rib steak and slow-roasted Mangalitsa belly.
