The hallmark of a good celebration is in the planning. Father’s Day 2021 is just a couple of weeks off – which is just a little too soon to leave things to chance. Avoid the rush (and the rest of the madding crowd) by opting for a feast from home. Corkage is free and the dress code is assuredly casual. Just make sure to plan ahead for the family feast, lest you be caught unawares by any last-minute news. We’ve rounded up some of the finest purveyors of said feast, who’ll settle the most of the wining and dining – the rest is up to you.
Mitzo Restaurant and Bar
If contemporary Cantonese dining’s something your dad might enjoy, opt for Mitzo’s five-course celebration set. There’s a lobsterfied take on local fave chili crab, Wagyu beef cheek bolstered with truffle, as well as an XO-fried octopus vermicelli. It also happens to come with a Father’s Day gift – an Old Fashioned, one of the many drinks available from their excellent cocktail programme that you can look forward to once dining-in’s back on the menu.

Nineteen80
Opt for a liquid feast from retro-themed Nineteen80 for the young, or young-at-heart, fathers that love a little fun. Said fun comes in the form of throwback-inspired cocktails like the Purple Rain, a vodka-based tribute – comprising blue caracao, pineapple and Yakult for even more nostalgia – to the Artist. Cocktail orders are packed for two or five, and come complete with curated mixtapes courtesy of the bar’s resident DJs as well as sachets of muruku. They’ve even got bespoke balloon options for those who really want to stay forever young.

Mandarin Oriental, Singapore
Instead of bringing a Father’s Day feast home, you can always have it brought to you – from the comfort of your room, mid-staycation. There’s an option of bona fide Cantonese fare at Cherry Garden or an Italian festa at Dolce Vita, as well as steaks at Morton’s. The best part? The food has even less of a distance to travel – and an extra bottle or two of bubbly’s just a phone call away.

Akira Back
The eponymous Korean-born chef Akira Back wields two decades of culinary know-how across his impressive portfolio of 16 restaurants globally, including Akira Back in JW Marriot Hotel Singapore South Beach. Expect mod-Japanese dining with Korean and European influences – think oyster mushroom pizza or Pacific halibut in a soy beurre blanc – presented across 11 courses for the whole family to enjoy in celebration of the special day.

Bedrock Bar & Grill
Nothing says “I love you Dad” like large-format steaks and excellent beef, neither of which are in short supply with Bedrock’s Father’s Day set. Treasures from land and sea – in this case, a hulking bone-in tomahawk and whole snapper – are grilled over applewood and accompanied with a pair of ribsticking steakhouse sides (you get to pick from a range, which includes their signature truffle-and-gorgonzola-infused mac and cheese) and classic sauces.

Janice Wong
Who says Dad can’t love sweets? Janice Wong certainly doesn’t think so – their Father’s Day coffee-and-chocolate cake is plenty sweet. It’s a marble-like construction of crushed Biscoff, coffee ganache and 38 per cent milk choc mousse. Just to ensure there’s no confusion who the cake’s for, they’ve printed on ‘DAD’ in block letters. Optional add-ons include a box of five 70 per cent dark chocolate bon bons, or a bottle of Bottega Prosecco DOC Brut Gold. Now that’s how to celebrate Father’s Day.

Level33
Also available is Chef ArChan Chan’s elevated bar nosh, which she dubs contembrewery cuisine as it incorporates beer brewing elements, reimagined for the home. The three-course menu comprises a refreshingly zesty carpaccio (swapping seafood for tomato slices), roasted pork collar on ciabatta and tiramisu – all washed down with their house-brewed beers, fermented, well, 33 storeys above ground level.
