A couple of weeks back, we recommended a few restaurants that offer intimate spreads right at your doorstep. Now, we’re looking a little bigger (emphasis on little) – small group banquets, spreads and parties thanks to some luxury caters for some much-needed reprieve in stressful times.
We aren’t advocating for wanton partying – social distancing and basic sanitation is still a must. But while we ride out the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s important to keep living: be it a baby shower or birthday, significant events can be commemorated responsibly. At the same time, it’s helping to keep the food industry afloat.

Michelin-trained luxury caterers
Take Tim’s Fine Catering for example. The eponym is a Michelin-trained chef that hails from the Netherlands. His experience in vaunted culinary institutions is legendary: he’s had a stint in two three-starred restaurants, Oud Sluis and Auberge de I’ll, and a two-starred restaurant, Sketch. Chef Tim Meijers was also head of catering at Saint Pierre in Singapore for two years.

He brings contemporary French cuisine with a touch of Japanese influence and years of professional experience to Tim’s Fine Catering: everything, down to the cutlery, ingredients and service, adds to the final gastronomical experience that seeks to bring fine dining to the comfort of home.
As such, expect a meal more akin to sampling a tasting menu than a buffet – with delights such as Boston lobster cannelloni, slow-cooked wagyu ribeye with rainbow ratatouille and a dark chocolate sphere topped with edible gold.

Of course, you can trust the catering company to craft a bespoke menu that suits your dietary requirements and preferences – simply tell your personal co-ordinator and butler that’ll make running any event a breeze.
It’s unsurprising then that the catering company was nominated for Caterer of the Year 2020 by the World Gourmet Summit. You can find out more about the menu here.
Here’s our pick of luxury catering services for intimate gatherings and convivial soirees with people that matter the most: expect themed buffets, cocktail canapes and live stations. Here’s to good food, good wine and most importantly, good health.

The Foodist styles itself as a bespoke cuisine curation platform: more than just your standard caterer, the company brings an eclectic mix of Singapore’s vibrant culinary scene has to offer to your event. Its exhaustive list of restaurant partners includes Wafuken, New Ubin Seafood and Salted & Hung, allowing you to bring restaurant-quality bentos in premium lacquer boxes to any meeting or product launch. It’s especially useful nowadays when you can’t (and shouldn’t) gather in big groups at restaurants. In the future, do note that the Foodist also does themed events (so you can still have an intimate baby shower) – though we’d wait til things clear up to engage them for pop-ups or live stations.

Started in 2012, Luxe Catering’s raison d’etre is to bring authentic French food and hospitality to Singapore’s catering scene. That includes traditional French fare such as decadent quiches, coq au vin and beef bourguignon – not to mention their signature dapper butlers clad in tuxedos. Unfortunately, with the current limit to ten and less a gathering, we’d pass on the butlers and go for Luxe’s social packs or boxes instead. These special menus are perfect for small groups, with various combinations of their usual offerings such as ratatouille nicoise and chicken a la provencale. For social boxes, why not try their sucre box for saccharine delights like canele sponge and Ferrero brownies. They have also just released stay home family packs that serve smaller groups (from three to four, and five to six; their social boxes serve ten). Luxe Catering is another contender for Caterer of the Year 2020.

This boutique caterer does everything. From gourmet canapes, international buffets, corporate bentos, fine dining menus, high tea reception and barbecue options to live stations, they don’t just serve up great food, but a great event. One highlight is their De Classico option, a tiered centrepiece that’ll elevate any home party to the next level with a selection of 40 sweet and savoury bites such as seared Hokkaido scallop, cocoa macaroons with salted caramel dark chocolate and compressed watermelon. Live stations to add some pizazz to home parties (though this should probably be saved for less troubling times) with options like whole spit-roasted lamb carvery, pasta cooked a la minute and local favourites ice kachang and chendol. For now, there are bento options and an a la carte option for delivery within 90 minutes.
