[PHOTOS] This Singapore Kelong Supplies Fresh Fish, Delivered ready-to-cook, to your Doorstep

We chronicle Ah Hua Kelong from dawn to dusk, and get a rare glimpse into the day-to-day of the fish farm turned e-commerce success.

There are few gourmet delights quite like the sweet, tender flesh of a freshly-caught fish. Most of what’s available to the local cook, however, is frozen – unless you know where to look.

Enter Singapore-based fish farm, Ah Hua Kelong. Apart from online ordering and home delivery services, it even does pre-cooking prep for customers (butterflied with a ‘secret Cantonese sauce’.)  The management also runs two seafood dining outlets, which have garnered somewhat of a cult following.

But all that’s the front end of the operation. Gourmet & Travel dives into a day behind the scenes for an aquatic farm-to-table.

Dawn breaks over Kelong 51 – yes, that is the farm’s registered name – but the day’s activities have long begun. The floating farm is accessible only by boat. Fortunately, it’s only a ten-minute journey from the Lorong Halus jetty on the north-eastern edge of Singapore.
