It’s official: Peter Chua, senior bartender at 28 Hong Kong Street, is one of the top six bartenders in the world. And we’re glad we had our eye on this rising star ahead of time, getting him to chime in on his take on the rum trend in Singapore. The sixth Diageo Reserve World Class Global Finals was held from 28 July to 1 August this year, where Chua had to design and present a series of cocktails across multiple challenges in Edinburgh and London, surviving four separate eliminations to make the cut. “Singapore’s bar scene has grown so much in the last couple of years and the local bar fraternity is made of the most passionate and inspiring bunch of people. I’m a little sad I didn’t win but I gave it my all and am very happy with where I have come and all that I learned on this incredible journey,” shares Chua.
