Nothing conjures up imagery of bountiful feasts and pulls together a Christmas dinner quite like the ubiquitous turkey. And when done perfectly, a turkey can be just as juicy and flavourful as its other less maligned bird brethren. If you are not confident about pulling off the perfect turkey for your home party, leave it to the experts with these takeaway birds and just sit back and enjoy.
St Regis Singapore
Nothing wrong with going for the classic turkey when it’s done with plenty of finesse, like St Regis’ Whole Roasted Turkey infused with truffle oil. The 5kg bird comes served with the whole nine yards of sides like buttered brussels sprouts, glazed chestnuts, truffle mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce and giblet gravy. Order here.
Sheraton Towers
Like with most Western food items in Singapore, Sheraton’s new turkey offering gets the Asian treatment this year. The Honey Rock Hoisin Roasted Turkey is infused with executive chef Eric Cheam’s homemade marinade for 48 hours before being slow-roasted. In lieu of the usual trimmings, the turkey here is accompanied by fragrant black sesame fried rice stuffing, sauteed brussels sprouts with garlic and salted egg potato dumpling. Order here.
Shangri-La Singapore
Fried chicken is hardly associated with the Christmas season, but Shang Palace’s exclusive Festive Harmony Chicken, deep-fried and deboned and filled with wild mushrooms, chestnut and black truffle, will surely be a crowd-pleaser, tradition be damned. Otherwise, there’s always the hefty Roasted Turkey with Trimmings for your consideration. The Festive Harmony Chicken is available for order at Shang Palace with one day’s notice. The Roasted Turkey with Trimmings is available for order here.
Resorts World Sentosa
You can’t go wrong with a meat and pastry combo. If a regular turkey is too pedestrian, opt for the Turkey Wellington, which features a roulade of turkey breast packed with portobello mushroom and prosciutto wrapped in puff pastry. This comes served with a variety of roasted vegetables, turkey gravy and cranberry sauce, and is good for 10 to 12 persons. Find out more here.
Mandarin Oriental
Two types of birds are available for takeaway at Mandarin Oriental: Go old-school with the Traditional Roasted Christmas Turkey, or check out the Chinese Style Roasted Christmas Goose, which comes served with apple and chestnut stuffing, roasted brussels sprouts and traditional giblet gravy. The festive counter at the hotel lobby opens from Dec 4 to 26, 2019. For orders, please e-mail mosin-festive@mohg.com or call +65 6885-3081.
Intercontinental Singapore
Intercontinental’s signature Truffle Roasted Turkey comes with all the good stuff: It’s adorned with shavings of truffle, and is served with mushroom stuffing, vichy carrots, garlic butter brussels sprouts, giblet truffle gravy and cranberry sauce. If your palate skews Asian, opt for executive chef Eric Neo’s Asian Honey Roasted Turkey Breast, which features tender sous-vide turkey breast marinated in his secret sweet-spicy Peranakan marinade. This is served with chilled raisin coleslaw, fried mantou buns, preserved leek, and ginger flower chilli. Order here.
Jam at Siri House
Jam at Siri House’s penchant for serving luxe comfort food translates into a gussied-up turkey option, the Whole Roast Spring Turkey, which is served with foie gras and cognac brown butter gravy, green apple compote and festive stuffing.
Jam at Siri House
Alternatively, opt for the simple Slice and Serve Roast Turkey Breast. These items can be ordered individually or as part of a festive pack of selected roasts, sides like brussels sprouts with pomegranate molasses and Kombu Butter Baby Potatoes, and gravies. Order here.
Ola Cocina del Mar
Nothing spices up a Christmas party quite like the robust flavours of Spanish cuisine, so kick things up a notch food-wise with Ola’s Whole Roasted Turkey, done “Spanish style” with red mojo aioli and quinoa salad that’s good for six to eight persons.
Place your orders at least three days in advance to ola@ola.kitchen or contact 6604 7050. Self-collection only.
