Here’s something to tuck into while waiting for the premiere of the inaugural MasterChef Asia, a spin-off from the well-known TV cooking contest franchise. Popular transport service Uber has teamed up with local gourmet food start-up Grain to deliver a special dinner menu for four to your home – on their tab. From 7pm to 8.30pm on Sept 3, open the Uber app, toggle over the ‘MasterChef Asia’ option that appears, and request for your meal. Four different Asian (of course) courses will be delivered in time for the 9pm premier of the series: a Japanese unadon with nimono (simmered vegetables), a grilled artichoke baked frittata, brown and black rice-based bibimbap with grilled chicken, and a tarragon yoghurt chicken with salad. MasterChef Asia is judged by Hong Kong-born restaurateur Susur Lee, three-Michelin-starred chef Bruno Ménard and Singapore-born MasterChef Australia finalist Audra Morrice. Three local participants are in the running to take home the championship title. MasterChef Asia premieres on Lifetime (StarHub TV Channel 514) on Sept 3 at 9pm.
