Drum rolls. Applause. The grand ballroom at The Fullerton Hotel resounded with these sounds last night as the stars of Singapore’s dining scene were recognised at the sixth installation of G Restaurant Awards 2015. The event is organised by The Peak Selections: Gourmet and Travel, a quarterly spin-off of luxury lifestyle title, The Peak.

A total of 43 honours were handed out, with Restaurant Andre emerging as Restaurant of the Year for the third consecutive year. Corner House (Western) and Syun (Asian) snagged the Best New Restaurant award, while JAAN (Western) and Hashida Sushi (Asian) took home Best Dinner Experience for their respective categories. The winners were the top scoring restaurants that emerged after incognito tastings done by the title’s editorial team as well as an external food panel comprising ambassadors and head honchos.

“It's a big honour to win this prestigious award. When we first started, all we wanted was to create a fine gastronomic destination and let everything else come naturally ” says Jason Tan, chef and co-owner of Corner House. Tan was one of four chefs helming the live stations at the event last night, where he busied around preparing his signature dish – the onion cup (roasted onion with sous vide egg). Other live stations offering a taste of their food that night included Xperience Restaurant & Bar at Sofitel So Singapore, Jade restaurant from The Fullerton Hotel and Tong Le Private dining. Guests were treated to 12 and 15-year-old Macallan whisky and Snow Leopard vodka-based cocktails to wash down the food. This event was supported by VISA Worldwide, Butter Studio, The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, The Entertainer, The French Cellar and Vintec.
