Aston Martin brings British ultra-luxe sensibilities to a Japanese home

Fans of luxury British automakers Aston Martin might be familiar with the fact that the company is now into designing real estate – whether that be a towering waterfront condominium in Miami, or a private nature-themed manor hidden away in Rhinebeck, New York.
The brand is now following up those developments with its first project in Asia. Their location of choice: Tokyo, Japan. The highly sought-after area of Omotesando in Minami Aoyama, to be precise, where a four-storey monument to luxury ‘carchitecture’ has recently been unveiled.
The architectural endeavour, aptly dubbed No 001 Minami Aoyama, is a collaboration between the British marque and Japanese luxury real estate concierge Vibroa. That said, the aesthetic direction definitely leans away from the simplicity of wabi-sabi minimalism in favour of industrial-chic décor and modern design elements.
Amenities housed within include a wine cellar, spa, gym, home cinema and of course, an automotive gallery for stashing your DBX or Vantage. For hosting guests, the property also features an expansive roof terrace with a lounge area, bar and dining table, along with a commanding view of the Tokyo skyline.
Said Marek Reichman, executive vice president and chief creative officer of Aston Martin in a press release, “The influence of Tokyo culture, with its amazing history and style, holds an important creative space within our design studio. I see fashion, architectural and even culinary references being considered by our team when developing their work, so its presence can really be felt within our practice.”
He added, “We thought we would return the favour through our first ultra-luxury collaboration in Asia with Vibroa by tailoring our Aston Martin real estate design principles specifically to the No 001 Minami property.”
Unfortunately, the project has already been snapped up by a private buyer. If you’d like to get your hands on Aston Martin-designed real estate as an overseas investment, consider Aston Martin Residences in Miami (97 per cent sold out ahead of launch in summer 2023 at the time of writing).
