In celebration of MG’s 100th anniversary, the famed British automaker launches the Cyberster, its first fully electric roadster that is also the fastest it has ever built.

The Cyberster is the perfect combination of MG’s rich heritage in open-top driving and the advanced technology packed into modern electric vehicle (EV) technology.

A glance at the Cyberster’s sleek silhouette reveals its intent: Performance and style in equal measure.

But look closer, and the story deepens. MG has carefully engineered every detail of this car to offer a driving experience that is as exhilarating as it is sustainable.

The Cyberster is the fastest MG ever built, delivering 503hp that rockets the car from 0 to 100kmh in only 3.2 seconds.

From its inception, the Cyberster was designed to be a driver’s car. MG’s London design studio led the charge, crafting a vehicle that pairs classic sports car proportions with futuristic design cues.

The aerodynamic Kammback tail not only enhances efficiency but also pays homage to MG’s racing lineage, while the dramatic scissor doors make a striking visual statement and improve accessibility in tight spaces.

MG Cyberster: Engineering pedigree and design philosophy

Marco Fainello, a former Ferrari Formula 1 engineer, was instrumental in bringing this vision to life.

His expertise has imbued the Cyberster with driving dynamics that rival the best in the segment.

Referring to the iconic two-door sports car built by the British Motor Corporation in the 1960s, he says: “The Cyberster’s dynamic development goal is to inherit the spirit of the MGB, seamlessly combining the dynamic thrill of a sports car with everyday driving comfort.”

The attention to detail is meticulous. Fainello’s team fine-tuned components such as springs, anti-roll bars, damper settings and steering feedback torque to ensure that every input was met with precision and control.

The result is a car that feels alive in the driver’s hands – equally at home carving through winding roads or cruising down a highway.

Fainello’s involvement extends beyond the car’s powertrain to its very soul.

“By maximising tire grip, it delivers both exceptional performance and driving pleasure. This is the essence of a true sports car,” he explains, noting that the Cyberster driver will feel connected to the road.

Its dual-motor all-wheel-drive system ensures that power is delivered with precision, allowing the car to achieve blistering acceleration while maintaining exceptional control.

“Significant adjustments were made to the rear suspension, enhancing the agility of the rear end during cornering. Even at high speeds, the Cyberster offers unparalleled handling and control,” Mr Fainello explains.

This focus on refinement extends to every aspect of the driving experience. From the Electronic Stability Programme to the steering calibration, the Cyberster feels balanced and confident under all conditions.

Beneath its sculpted exterior lies an 800V battery architecture, which ensures rapid charging and maximum efficiency. The Cyberster boasts a WLTP range of 443km, making it suitable for both spirited weekend drives and everyday commutes.

Advanced aerodynamics and lightweight engineering allow the car to deliver unparalleled speed and efficiency, making it a leader in its class.

Besides performance-boosting enhancements, MG has also packed the Cyberster with technology designed to improve safety and convenience.

The car features next-generation Level 3 advanced driver-assistance system, including adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist and autonomous parking.

Drivers can also take advantage of over-the-air software updates and iSmart smartphone integration, which offers remote control of key vehicle functions.

Inside, the Cyberster features a dual-screen digital cockpit with a minimalist design to prioritise the driver’s experience. Intuitive controls keep the focus on the road, while eco-friendly materials are used throughout the cabin.

But it is the driving experience that truly sets the Cyberster apart. Open-top motoring remains central to its appeal, ensuring that the wind-in-your-hair sensation of MG’s classic roadsters is alive and well in this modern EV.

As MG celebrates its centenary, the Cyberster stands as a symbol of the brand’s enduring commitment to innovation, performance and driving excitement.

If anything, the Cyberster is not just the next chapter in MG’s story; it is the start of an electrified legacy for generations to come.

Meet the all-electric MG Cyberster in the metal at the Singapore Motorshow 2025 Booth 4221 from Jan 9 to 12. There will also be the launch of a new MG HS1.5T SUV as well as the introduction of the IM Motors line, a full-electric brand, to Singapore at the show.
