The fashion world may have lost yet another creme de la creme with Karl Lagerfeld’s passing, and with him, his legacy and style. Au contraire, the creative doyen’s legacy lives on in the spirit of Chanel and the brand’s couture, along with its lineage of offbeat accessories.

Following Chanel’s transformation of the Grand Palais des Champs-Elysees to the plage de Chanel (the beach of Chanel) last year for the release of their Spring/Summer 19 collection, the French house recently dropped a fresh addition to their assemblage of luxe accessories – this time, a cruiser-style skateboard.

The skateboard is crafted from black lacquered wood, with the renown double-C monogram inlaid on the black grip tape. On the underbelly, a coating of chic diamond-quilted leather lines the board, embossed on it the same, but not cliche, interlocking “C” emblem – a ritzy nod to the Maison’s signature style. Ebony trucks and ivory wheels make for a classic contrast and a felicitous finishing to the deck.

Not pursuing some nouvelle vague, Chanel has always showcased a waggish side, especially in their line of avant-garde accessories. From tennis rackets, to ice skates, and even a boomerang, high fashion from the French house may not always be conventionally au courant, but it is definitely exciting to say the least.
