The Jazz Association Singapore (JASS) is back with its annual Benefit Gala, themed “Love Is Here to Stay: Gala of Peace and Love.” On October 19, 2024, the Shangri-La Singapore will become a beacon of rhythm and soul, celebrating the vibrant spirit of jazz rapidly defining Singapore’s cultural landscape.
This year’s gala sets the stage for a new generation of jazz talent while supporting a community that has come to embody resilience, creativity, and a touch of the extraordinary.
The gala promises an unforgettable line-up, headlined by none other than 2024 Grammy Award winner Carmen Bradford. Known for her commanding presence and work with the legendary Count Basie Orchestra, Bradford will share the stage with the Jazz Association Singapore Orchestra (JASSO) under the expert baton of Jeremy Monteiro, JASS’s executive director and music director.
The evening also shines a spotlight on Sneha Menon, a promising vocalist from the Jazz Association Singapore Youth Orchestra (JASSYO!), who has already wowed audiences alongside members of the Dizzy Gillespie Band at the Lion City Jazz Festival. Expect a night where talent meets tradition, creating an electric atmosphere that speaks directly to the heart.
One of the standout moments of the evening will be the “Build Your Legacy Through Jazz” segment — a chance for donors to make a lasting impact through bespoke compositions crafted by local talents such as Monteiro, Weixiang Tan, Chok Kerong, and Sean Hong Wei.

It’s a beautiful intersection of art and philanthropy, adding to an ever-growing library of homegrown jazz works since the initiative’s inception in 2022.
Still, this isn’t all sit-back-and-clap-your-hands; it’s an all-sensory affair. Think gourmet dining curated by Shangri-La Singapore’s best, a fiercely competitive best-dressed contest, and a live auction that promises to be as thrilling as the performances.
The evening ends on a high note with a dance floor that invites you to let loose, jazz style — because when was the last time a gala got you up and grooving?
