A new slew of luxury hotels have opened in Australia, bringing buzz and vibrancy to the tourism scene Down Under. From Melbourne, Sydney to Gold Coast, we highlight the latest places to check into for your next holiday.

1. The Langham Gold Coast

Famous as one of the best surf spots in Australia, The Langham, Gold Coast is one of Queensland’s latest luxury accommodation with 169 hotel rooms and 170 residences is the first development with direct beachfront access to be built on the Gold Coast in more than 30 years. The hotel is the tallest of three striking Jewel towers situated between Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach. The rooms and suites offer stunning panorama of either the Pacific Ocean or the Hinterland.

One thing’s for sure, you will never be hungry here as The Langham is known for its range of exquisite dining options. They include the signature outlets: T’ang Court Cantonese restaurant (T'ang Court in Hong Kong has one Michelin star) and Palm Court known for serving the exquisite Langham Afternoon Tea. There’s also Akoya which presents some of Australia’s finest meat, fish and poultry, topped with glittering ocean views. Guests can enjoy Queensland’s balmy weather at 26&Sunny, the lively hotspot for beachside coffee and food; or sip your favourite drink at Coral Moon, an open-air destination cocktail bar.

The luxurious Capella Sydney opened in the heart of the city's Central Business District on 15 March. The property occupies the former Department of Education’s beautiful Edwardian Baroque building in Sydney’s Sandstone Precinct near the iconic Sydney Opera House, Harbour Bridge and recently unveiled Quay Quarter Lanes precinct. Originally designed by architect George McRae in the early 1900s, the building has been carefully restored by Pontiac Land in collaboration with Make Architects.

The beautifully appointed 192 guestrooms and suites are furnished with standalone tubs, plush textiles, custom Italian Frette linen, TV with streaming services, LG soundbar, Bose speaker, Nespresso coffee machine and more. Art lovers can look out for commissioned and collected artworks, and intriguing objet d'art.

On level six, guests are invited to indulge in rejuvenating treatments at Auriga Spa, relax in the jacuzzi, or swim in the 20-metre heated indoor pool. There are several dining outlets including the light-filled Aperture, Brasserie 1930 and the sophisticated McRae Bar.

W Melbourne opened in February 2021 at the bustling Flinder’s Lane – the perfect locale to immerse yourself in the city’s creative and laneway culture. The glamorous property has 294 rooms and suites (29 suites, four WOW suites and an ultra-luxe Extreme WOW penthouse on Level 15).

Check out the range of vibrant restaurants and bars including Lollo by celebrated local chef Adam D’Sylva, or Warabi, a Japanese omakase restaurant serving a nine-course degustation menu. Curious is the hotspot for cocktail connoisseurs. The bar fuses music programming, a menu of small bites and sharing plates as well as creative concoctions. The cocktail menu has been curated by drink experts Proof & Co. Over at Culprit, you can grab a pick-me-up double shot latte (Melbourne is after all one of the best places for coffee) or wind down with a refreshing afternoon spritz along with antipasti.

The Ritz-Carlton, Melbourne opened its doors on 23 March. Located at Lonsdale Street, the building soars 80 floors above the CBD. Take the lift up to the lobby reception located on level 80 to check in. The property boasts 257 stylish hotel rooms and suites fitted with residential-inspired décor and furnishings. The plush accommodations come with marble bathrooms with double vanities, rain showers and oversized bathtubs.

To relax after a day out in the city, head to the heated indoor infinity pool with floor to ceiling windows overlooking Melbourne’s skyline and streets which are designed in a grid. Beyond the inviting pool, there’s also a spa featuring six treatments tooms, sauna, steam room, vitality pools and yoga space.

Dining options include signature restaurant, Atria on Level 80. Thanks to its double-vaulted ceiling and windows spanning the entire level, guests can enjoy uninterrupted views across the cityscape. Also on the same level is Cameo, an intimate, sophisticated cocktail bar which is a homage to Melbourne’s speakeasy scene.
