Returning with a somewhat muted fanfare this year, the awards for the World’s 50 Best Restaurants by Acqua Panna and San Pellegrino took place in Antwerp, Belgium.

With a smaller audience, as most preferred to stay put given their countries’ varying travel restrictions, the award show saw two Copenhagen restaurants clinching the top two spots on the list — the newly relocated Noma and Geranium.

On the Asian front, Singapore’s Odette showed up at eighth place to add to its Best Restaurant in Asia title while Burnt Ends debuted on the top 50 list at 34th. The Chairman in Hong Kong came close at 10th position after winning second place on Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants after Odette.

Like The Chairman, Sühring took 40th place and Ultraviolet at 35th as each of Bangkok and China’s only entry on the list. Japan fared a little better with three restaurants making the awards: Den, Narisawa and new entrant Florilege.
