The work of looking well-rested has become, quietly, a precise science

The people coming to Dr Rohan Mendis aren’t looking for a transformation. They’re looking to reclaim how they already see themselves – with Ultherapy PRIME

At some point, looking tired stops being something you can sleep off. For the executives and business leaders who walk into Mendis Aesthetics – an aesthetic clinic in Singapore specialising in natural, non-surgical rejuvenation in Orchard Road – it becomes something they decide to address properly, and with the right person.

Dr Rohan Mendis trained as a surgeon before moving into aesthetics, and that background has never really left him. Where others might see a cosmetic concern, he sees the structural mechanics beneath it: the gradual loosening of tissue layers below the skin, and the quiet shift in support that no amount of rest or retinol can reverse.

“People are not coming in wanting to look different. They want to look like themselves – just not tired,” he says. That distinction shapes the way he practises, because for Dr Mendis, the point is less about altering a face than understanding what is happening beneath it. It is also why one of the treatments he most often reaches for is Ultherapy PRIME – a non-invasive skin lifting and tightening treatment that works below the surface of the skin, where the face’s deeper support structures lie.

Every session begins with a conversation with founder and aesthetic physician Dr Rohan Mendis – not about changing a face, but about bringing out the best of it.

With an FRCS qualification and a surgeon’s understanding of anatomy, Dr Mendis approaches aesthetics in layers, with a marked preference for tools that work at depth. Ultherapy PRIME appealed to him precisely because it follows that logic: targeted, anatomical, and guided by what is happening beneath the visible surface. It was what drew him to the treatment in the first place, and eventually led him to undergo it himself, observing visible lifting and tightening within two months.

Targeted treatment without a single incision

Ultherapy PRIME is the only US FDA-cleared non-invasive treatment using Micro-Focused Ultrasound with Real-Time Visualisation (MFU-V), allowing the practitioner to see exactly where energy is being delivered as it happens. This visualisation is what enables the treatment to target the superficial musculo-aponeurotic layer (SMAS) layer – the same structural plane addressed in a surgical facelift – without a single incision.

Mendis Aesthetics is one of the few aesthetic clinics in Singapore where that precision begins before any energy is delivered at all. Every session opens with ultrasound imaging, giving Dr Mendis a live map of the tissue layers so he can identify where structural support is most needed before deciding where to treat.

Dr Mendis brings a surgeon’s precision to every consultation – because looking well-rested starts with understanding what lies beneath.

“Treatment is then directed at the areas of greatest need: brow, cheeks, jawline, neck, or décolletage, shaped by the patient’s own anatomy and ageing pattern. There is no fixed protocol applied to everyone who walks in,” he says.

The same measured approach continues after the treatment. Each Ultherapy PRIME session is followed by the Merz Aesthetics Ultherapy Mask, formulated with hyaluronic acid, peptide complex, and MC-PDRN – derived from salmon DNA – to support natural repair and regeneration, improve skin elasticity, and calm the skin as it recovers.

The results, fittingly, build quietly. “You’ll notice a sculpted, well-rested quality within the first month,” Dr Mendis says, “with skin feeling progressively firmer over three to six months as collagen production increases.” For most patients, the improvement holds for 12 to 18 months, after which a maintenance session is recommended to sustain the effect. There is also minimal downtime, with most patients able to return to meetings, boardrooms, and travel schedules the same day.

The patients he sees most often are in their late 30s to 50s, a window he considers especially strategic: early enough for collagen stimulation to make a visible difference, while structural laxity is still mild to moderate.

Ultherapy PRIME, according to him, is also “a preventive move that aligns well with performance-driven executives who want to stay ahead of the curve”, which makes it a natural fit for the kind of patient Mendis Aesthetics often sees: busy professionals who want “effective, discreet procedures with minimal downtime”.

Such consistency and early action, in his experience, outperform intermittent fixes. “For those with mild to moderate laxity, the results are most meaningful,” he says. “More complex requirements may be better served by other options or treatment combinations.” It is the kind of candour that reflects how he runs his practice: Ultherapy PRIME rarely stands alone, and he will typically recommend a layered strategy, sequencing injectables, lasers, or energy-based devices according to what each patient actually needs.

“True aesthetic medicine is not about changing a face or body – it is about supporting the natural structure of the skin so that people continue to look like the best version of themselves.”
