HexHog electric wheelchair off-road

You can’t keep a good dog down. Thrill-seekers, wheelchair-bound or no, have and will continue to find ways to get their adrenaline pumping. Which is why we think the Hex Hog might just be the tool that’s a great add-on to any road warrior’s arsenal.

Off-road, that is: the Hex Hog isn’t just an electric wheelchair. Designed by UK-based Off-Road Engineering, it’s fully capable of tackling harsh terrain in style, all the while keeping the passenger in comfort thanks to its commitment to providing a relatively bump-free ride.

The Hex Hog isn’t just suited for those who’d typically need an electric wheelchair though: it’s also a possible option for adrenaline junkies that’d rather lean back and relax (while conquering impressively rough terrain – hey, we don’t judge). It also takes the stress out of controlling your feisty ATVs, so it has that going for it as well.

Instead of maneuvering off-road while wrestling two-handed with a set of handlebars – all the while receiving intense tactile feedback from whatever dune or butte you’re currently ascending – the Hex Hog can be steered via a simple one-handed joystick system that can be calibrated to your level of comfort.

You also don’t have to worry about battery blow-outs while revving your electric wheelchair. The Hex Hog is powered by a 48-volt 5kWh industrial battery that lasts as long as you need it to.

That said, it’s no speed demon. It tops out at around 15 kmh (no word yet on it’s 0 to 10 either), with just under 20 km of range on a full charge. Just think of it as exactly what the label describes: an off-road capable electric wheelchair that opens up an exciting new realm of possibilities for the wheelchair-bound.
