With food being such an important pillar of Valentine’s Day celebrations, we round up how five types of foodies can mark this love-filled day, which falls on 14 February.

1. For beef aficionados: Gyu Bar

Love romance, sushi and love beef? Combine it all with The Gyu Bar’s - Valentine’s Day Maki ($48).

To up the  romance factor, tender cubes of the A5 Miyazaki Wagyu are lightly torched and arranged into the shape of a heart. It is then rolled in seaweed and Hokkaido rice and is served with  uni on the side. The Valentine’s Day Maki is also available for takeaway — perfect for an addition to a picnic under the stars. Take a trip down memory lane with a six-course dinner ($276++  per couple) of comforting Cantonese dishes such as double-boiled chicken soup served with fish maw and maca and the braised ee fu noodles cooked with scallops, egg white and gold flakes . 

Before you tap out from a food coma, save room for desserts like chilled yam paste with coconut ice cream and pistachio. Adding a little sparkle to your evening, a glass of rosé will be served on the house. Available for lunch and dinner from 6 to 14 February.

If your date is a chic gourmand, this one-Michelin-starred French restaurant at Raffles Hotel Singapore will impress.  

On Valentine’s Day, tickle your tastebuds with charming  flavours from a sensational six-course experience ($388++ per person). Appetizers such as Mackerel and Oscietra Caviar may open the show, but  the star is the iconic Les Berlingots — pasta parcels filled with French cheese fondue, which is a signature dish of chef Anne-Sophie Pic. Another highlight is the Saga Wagyu Tenderloin marinated with rooibos and cubébe pepper. End the meal on a sweet note with a dessert of Lotus Root accented with Kaffir Lime and Almond. Available for lunch and dinner on 10 and 11 February, and dinner on 14 February.

If kirsch is your poison, definitely try the luscious Red Roses. Teetotallers can go for Cupid, a non-alcoholic alternative which is a concoction of butterfly pea with lemon, lime and passionfruit. The cocktails are served with a la carte dishes such as Hokkaido Scallops and Boeuf Bourguignon — an all time French classic, with tender chunks of beef simmered in rich red wine gravy.
