The process of buying a new home can be deeply personal – and often emotional. ERA Realty’s senior marketing director Idy Tee knows this intimately.
She takes pride in remembering each client’s preferences and priorities, treating every transaction not just as a deal, but as a milestone in their lives. The 35-year-old also helps clients become more financially savvy, noting that property decisions are deeply tied to an individual’s financial well-being.
“Many clients focus on the property itself, but few fully understand how loan structuring, refinancing or different interest rate types can impact their long-term finances,” she says. “I see it as my role to simplify these complexities – to help clients make informed, sustainable decisions in a way that aligns with their financial goals.”
A background in finance puts her in good stead to take on this challenge. As a young graduate working in corporate finance 14 years ago, she learnt how to manage clients and build trust through assisting small- and medium-sized enterprise owners with their business needs. Later, she started her own loan brokerage business and ran it for five years, before pivoting to mortgage brokering during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Moving into real estate felt like a natural next step, allowing her to build on her experience while continuing to grow and evolve professionally. This foundation also gave her a unique advantage when guiding clients through one of their largest financial decisions.
“Because of my prior experience as a mortgage broker, I also maintain strong relationships with bankers from various financial institutions. This allows me to provide each client with financing solutions that fit their needs.”
Among Tee’s numerous success stories is helping a young couple upgrade from a Housing Board flat to a condominium, and finally to a landed home in just three years – an experience she takes pride in, knowing that they trusted her with their wealth building goals.
In the four years since she joined the industry, she has received the Rising Millionaire award three times – a recognition given to realtors who earn at least $500,000 in commissions within a year. For Tee, the accolade reinforces a simple philosophy: When you put your clients first, success naturally follows.
It informs not just her results, but also how she navigates every transaction.
She adds: “Real estate is both a financial and personal journey. Every client’s situation is unique, so it’s important to take the time to understand their goals, lifestyle and financial needs before making a decision. I believe in serving from the heart – guiding each client with honesty and care to help them make informed, confident choices.”
