Bottega Veneta Looks to Nature for Inspiration
The Spring / Summer collection focuses on organic looks and versatility.

"A journey back to nature” inspired Bottega Veneta’s creative director, Tomas Maier, when he was creating the brand’s Spring/ Summer 2016 collection, and this theme carries over into its latest bags as well.
Take, for instance, the quilted patterns on the backpacks and messenger bags made from Bottega Veneta’s young-calf leather, Plume. While the quilting itself takes its cues from technical down jackets made for the great outdoors, the pattern on this thin, soft leather is irregular and organic. This texture stands in interesting contrast to the firmer, smooth matte calf leather used for the flaps.
Another key highlight is a tote bag made for packing in just about everything you would need for work or play, and which was inspired by sailors’ sacks. Measuring 55cm in height, 30cm in width and 21cm in depth, this carrier offers space aplenty. Designed with versatility in mind, the tote can be carried over the shoulder or across the body.
Material-wise, slouchy technical canvas is juxtaposed against a reinforced base of matte calf leather, while woven intrecciato leather accents add a subtle, distinctive flourish.
