Rare pink diamond and a setting inspired by an empress — what more can you ask for?

Imagine a diamond so elusive that it occurs only once in every 100,000 unearthed. That’s the level of exclusivity behind Chaumet’s newest creation, La Vie en Rose, which is a one-of-a-kind pink diamond solitaire ring worthy of a dedicated name.
At its heart gleams a pear-shaped, one-carat pink diamond discovered in Tanzania, with an alluring deep powder hue radiating femininity and grace. More than a showpiece of gemology, this jewel is a love letter to rarity itself.
Chaumet has long been known for turning exceptional stones into art, but here, the Parisian maison takes it one step further — transforming a geological miracle into an emblem of individuality.
If you’re wondering what makes La Vie en Rose so desirable, the answer lies in its setting: the iconic Josephine Aigrette Imperiale on which a pink diamond is mounted for the first time. Inspired by Empress Josephine, Napoleon’s beloved muse and the ultimate tastemaker of her time, the creation’s signature V-shaped aigrette silhouette is reminiscent of the spray of an egret’s plume, a popular feature in historical tiara designs.
This creation is a poetic nod to Chaumet’s origins as imperial jeweller to the French emperor’s court. One of the brand’s most luminous legacies is its role as an expert crafter of royal diadems and tiaras during the late 18th and 19th centuries, adorning European aristocracy and queens from Paris to St Petersburg.
In fact, Chaumet’s 12 Place Vendome maison in Paris, which used to be Chopin’s home in the mid-19th century, boasts an archival room where historic wax moulds of these bespoke headpieces — each made for an individual royalty — are still on display.
Among the house’s most famous patrons were Empress Marie-Louise of Austria, Queen Hortense of Holland, Queen Alexandra of the United Kingdom, Queen Isabella II of Spain, Queen Maria Christina of Spain, and Queen Margherita of Italy.
Set in platinum and rose gold, the ring also features delicate pear-shaped diamond drops sparkling like morning dew on the arches of the “tiara”, as well as two intersecting rows of brilliant-cut diamonds serving as the band. This stunner marries majesty with visual lightness and wearability — qualities that also define the signature aesthetic and construction of Chaumet jewels.
Since it’s not every day that the modern sophisticate would don a bejewelled head-dress, why not wear such absolute regality on your finger?
