Leica’s two timepieces are great examples of German manufacturing precision

Conceptualised by Professor Achim Heine, who’s no stranger to designing Leica products, the two watches feature a patented push crown. Unlike a regular crown that has to be pulled out to stop the movement and adjust the time, the crown on Leica’s timepieces are meant to be pressed down similar to the release button of a camera.

The watches’ movements are designed in partnership with Lehmann Prazision GmbH, where components of the newly developed mechanical movement with manual winding were made in the Black Forest region. 

Other features of the L1 and L2 that allude to the brand’s history include the design of the watch hands, rhodium- and diamond-plated applied indices, as well as a domed watch glass akin to the front element of a camera lens.
