It is a well-known fact that Singaporeans just cannot get enough of Japan. If you're missing the country already, or haven't had the chance to plan that shopping blow-out, it's time to make a beeline for Lumine's new global flagship store at Raffles City when it opens on August 27.
Sure, the popular Japanese department store has had a presence downtown — at the Clarke Quay Central mall — since 2017. Stocking trendsetting labels from the Land of the Rising Sun, the compact boutique has always been a hit for its tastefully curated selection of designer clothing. However, this soon-to-be-launched Lumine Singapore will span 7,000 sq ft and feature an even wider array of beloved brands from fashion to lifestyle.

Beyond retail therapy, managing director of Lumine Singapore Nao Miyawaki says that the store's mission is to foster cultural exchange between the two countries, and self-discovery in shoppers. "Guided by our opening campaign theme, Me Forward, we aspire to be a destination where visitors can explore and embrace new dimensions of themselves.”
And how would you do that? Well, the new Lumine Singapore's offerings are touted to be as varied as they are exclusive. There are sections dedicated to both women’s and men’s fashion, which are complemented by areas focused on culture and lifestyle.
A standout feature of the store is its collaboration with various Japanese prefectures, brands, and creators. Kicking off these partnerships, Lumine Singapore has joined hands with the Fukui Prefecture to bring a taste of traditional Japanese craftsmanship to our shores. Renowned for its artisanal mastery, Fukui is home to Sabae City’s iconic eyeglasses and Echizen City’s exquisite cutlery — products that marry centuries-old techniques with contemporary design, ensuring functionality without compromising on aesthetics.

Fashionistas will also be delighted to know that Lumine Singapore hosts several distinguished Japanese brands debuting locally. Renowned names such as Beams, United Arrows, and TomorrowLand will feature unique shop-in-shop spaces that reflect their identity and philosophy. Other beloved brands like Fray I.D, Snidel, and Spick & Span will also grace the shelves.
Adding to the excitement, Blue Bottle Coffee, a famed speciality coffee company from California, will also launch at Lumine Singapore for the first time in Southeast Asia. Known for its meticulously crafted brews and cult following in Japan, it is set to open a gift shop offering an exclusive selection of merchandise, including the sought-after Craft Instant Espresso and chic drinkware. Fans should also look forward to an exhibition curated by the brand following the store’s opening.
