In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month this whole October, Zenith links arms with Susan G. Komen, a breast cancer advocacy organisation based in the US, to launch a 100-piece limited-edition timepiece. This is the third consecutive year Zenith has joined forces with the world-leading institution as part of its HORIZ-ON corporate social responsibility initiative.

And 2024’s release is the brand’s most striking expression of its commitment yet: a bold Defy Skyline 41mm adorned with a dial in pink — a colour deeply symbolic of hope, awareness, and solidarity with the community impacted by the scourge, which is the second most common cancer worldwide.

A portion of the proceeds from each sale will directly benefit Susan G. Komen’s efforts to support patients through global community outreach and education, as well as advancing critical breast cancer research in pursuit of a cure.

On the brand’s vision behind its continued support. Zenith CEO Benoit de Clerck explains: “One of the key pillars of Zenith’s HORIZ-ON initiative is women’s empowerment, and we strongly believe that access to healthcare and education is a vital part of it. Susan G. Komen has been doing a phenomenal job in the US and across the world in spreading awareness and offering support. It is truly at the vanguard of the fight against breast cancer.”

Sarah Rosales, senior vice president of corporate partnerships at Susan G. Komen, emphasises the importance of this ongoing collaboration: “At Komen, we work to create a world without breast cancer — but we cannot do it alone. Through Zenith’s generous contributions and steadfast support, Komen can continue to provide patient care services to thousands of families and accelerate research to save more lives from breast cancer.”

Following a special pink edition of the Chronomaster Original in 2022 and the Chronomaster Sport in 2023, the Defy Skyline Pink edition marks the first time this signature collection features a pink-dialled 41mm unisex version.

Every detail has been carefully considered. The sunburst satin finish on the bright, alluring dial is intended to reflect light dynamically. The engraved geometric motif consisting of the four-pointed star, an emblem of past Defy models that date as far back as 1969, is also given a new chromatic context on this model.

In addition, a date wheel visible through the window at 3 o’clock is finished in the same pink tone as the dial. Opposite at 9 o’clock is the world’s first and only constant 1/10th of a second indicator, a testament of the Defy Skyline’s high-frequency precision and a reminder that every fraction of a second is precious.

The watch is powered by the El Primero 3620 automatic high-frequency calibre, the latest generation of Zenith’s groundbreaking movement, whose unique 1/10th of a second indicator is driven directly from the 5Hz escapement. It features a power reserve of approximately 60 hours and is endowed with a stop-second mechanism for precise time-setting.

Since its partnership with the organisation, Zenith has contributed over US$700,000 to the cause. Every dollar counts, so why not do your part for this meaningful movement and get yourself one?
