Add some fun for the summer with Swatch’s new Colors of Joy Collection

Since the launch of their first watch back in 1983, the Swiss watchmaker, Swatch, has been well-known for their creative watch designs, and their newest collection is testimony to that reputation. 

This collection is themed around the energy that comes with the season, brought by the long hours of clear and sunny skies, though for those in Singapore, the season lasts longer. 

To carry across the bright energy of summer, the Colors of Joy collection features watches in transparent and vibrant colours. Each model is designed for you to make a statement, with the bold colours and large 47mm case.

Environmental concerns have increasingly been taking the spotlight, especially as temperatures steadily rise.

Given that, the Colors of Joy collection is entirely made of bio sourced materials. From the case to the strap, every part of the watch is made with environmentally friendly materials that also double in function to keep the watches light and comfortable to wear. 

Even the clasp of the watch is made of this material. The watches close with a folding butterfly clasp, a traditional watchmaking feature that is associated with Swiss made quality. Using biosourced material for the whole watch updates watchmaking to reflect modern concerns, ensuring that you can look trendy while also being eco-conscious.

You can even wear them at the beach or around the pool; the watches are water resistant to up to three bar. 

Swatch is in the details

The collection includes six distinct colours, each representing different moments of a summer day. 

Starting the day is Yellow Joy, a bright yellow that radiates, while Orange Joy reflects the warmth of the sun. Turquoise Joy occupies the colour between the blue skies and green grass of being out and about during the midday.

As the evening approaches, the watch Pink Joy is inspired by the sunset, and the transition into the night is marked with Purple Joy, a deep purple watch that takes you from day to night. Finally, when the sun has set, the dark blue Navy Joy mirrors the few hours of the day without sun, before the next summer day arrives. Each watch is the colour of its namesake, with a matching glow in the dark minute and colour hand, for use even in the dark. 

Swatch has applied the principle of complementary colours to make the watches pop just a bit more; each watch has a second hand in a contrasting colour to the watch body. Just look at Turquoise Joy as an example, and how the deep pink of the second hand stands out.
