Jennifer Liu & Lee Yung Sheng – Yung is the CEO of The UrbanFindr, a gastronomy platform.
The first date:
Our first date was in Hong Kong 10 years ago. Zuma, a Modern Japanese restaurant located in Landmark, Central was where we had our first meal together – it was also one of the most memorable meals. We started the evening with Jennifer’s favourite Ruinart rose; conversation flowed as we both share a love for food and wine. The dishes that stood out were Hokkaido scallops, umeboshi butter and mentaiko, and barley miso marinated baby chicken that was oven-roasted on cedar wood.
A dish of meal with special meaning:
Yung’s favourite Hong Kong style stir fired Sri Lanka crab cooked by Jennifer with her mom’s secret recipe. Unlike other stir fried dishes, this crab preparation is unique. Five ingredients including various sauces and Shaoxing wine are used to make the special marinade. The final result is a savoury dish loaded with wok hei. Jennifer’s mom is a chef and is the best cook in the family for Cantonese cuisine. This is a dish that Jennifer reproduces with exacting standards and taste that make her mom proud. Most importantly, she cooks it in a cast iron wok that was a gift from mom.

Favourite date night spot:
In Singapore, we love the Vue at OUE Bayfront for its gorgeous design and romantic ambience.
A cocktail with significance:
The lychee martini by Morton’s, The Steakhouse. It is our go-to place after a long day’s work to unwind and catch up.
