After an almost three-year delay, The Capitol Kempinski Hotel Singapore will finally make its long-awaited opening on Oct 1. The 157-room luxury property is housed within the former Capitol Building and Stamford House – both neoclassical architectural icons that hold as much historical value as they do sentimental.
Inviting and impressive, the mesh of colonial design and contemporary art decoration strikes the perfect balance between rich victorian opulence and homely charm. Think Italian marble, limestone columns and grand windows, complemented by the comfort of warm toned lighting and classic chengal wood flooring. The building was restored and designed by acclaimed architect and Pritzker Architecture Prize winner Richard Meier, best known for his design of the Getty Center, Los Angeles, and the Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art, Spain.
The stunning design does not end at the lobby. Guests can expect to find their rooms beautifully furnished with beige tones and glossy wooden touches, coupled with high ceilings and ample living space. Free-standing bathtubs in the bathrooms bid one to take a long, languid soak.

The facilities Capitol Kempinski has to offer range from an outdoor saltwater relaxation pool to a gym, decked out with state-of-the-art TechnoGym equipment. The in-house spa combines modern therapies with traditional Asian massage.
If all that still isn’t enough to whet your appetite, Capitol Kempinski also prides itself in its selection of culinary treasures. Conceptualised by a three-starred Michelin chef, the signature restaurant presents an abundance of gourmet options made from high-quality ingredients. On the list is also an exceptional variety of wines and spirits – a nod to the Kempinski brand’s origin as a wine merchant in the 19th century.
Located in the heart of Singapore’s heritage lifestyle district, which houses a variety of respected art venues like Victoria Theatre, Singapore Art Museum and National Gallery Singapore, Capitol Kempinski is a great starting point for those keen on exploring the city.
