Nothing screams family meal quite like an entire roast chicken. Done properly, – with crispy skin and juicy flesh – this seemingly humble dish can be a sublime experience, as these restaurants prove.
Racines
Sofitel Singapore City Centre’s Racines take on this French summer classic an entire hefty corn-fed chicken prepared rotisserie-style. What really sets it apart though, is the wide array of sauces to choose from – which includes classics like red wine and parsley-garlic butter; as well as uncommon options like a lobster cream sauce, and a savoury XO sauce. Available as a family-sized set with feta salad, garlicky roasted vegetables, and buttery mashed potatoes.

Summer Hill
Chef Anthony Yeoh’s French-style roast chicken has been a crowd favourite since his days at Cocotte. A hormone and antibiotic-free chicken is 24-hour brined, slathered in herb butter, and roasted. Served as a half bird with gravy and sides of the day. Round out your meal with parmesan-covered duck fat fries, and a decadent Valrhona dark chocolate tart.
Order by messaging the restaurant’s WhatsApp at 6251-5337.
Salted & Hung
Chef Drew Nocente takes a roast chicken to the next level of flavour by smoking it whole, and serving it with jus and a mildly sweet black garlic emulsion. Perfect with sides like his mac and (three) cheese; or beef fat-fried potatoes with rosemary and garlic. There’s also a locally-inspired version created for National Day – available until the end of August – with chicken rice pilaf, sauteed broccolini, and pickled green chilli.

CUT by Wolfgang Puck
For the small households: Cut’s rotisserie-roasted baby chicken packs plenty of flavour into a diminutive bird. Served with a sauce made from its own just, and wild mushrooms. Make it a full feast with their signature steaks; as well as starters like Maryland blue crab cake.

Odette
What is a three Michelin-starred roast chicken like? It starts off with poularde de Bresse (a French chicken given AOC status) that’s roasted to perfect – and served with a chicken stock-infused Niigata rice and rich, creamy sauce Albufera. Four hour advance order required.
