During the parliamentary debate on the National Budget last month, SkillsFuture Singapore surfaced repeatedly. One speaker claimed that the programme successfully encouraged lifelong learning, but users now face a different problem: choice paralysis. With so many courses available, deciding where to spend limited credits can be surprisingly difficult.

To cut through the noise, we combed through the catalogue and identified seven standout programmes particularly relevant for senior executives and founders.

From navigating AI adoption and cybersecurity risks to managing teams and shaping company identity, these courses offer practical tools for leaders steering organisations through increasingly uncertain and fast-changing conditions, without requiring them to step away from their roles for extended periods.

  1. 1. For AI Transformation — (Generative) AI for Business Leaders (Or Government Leaders)
  2. 2. Cybersecurity — Cybersecurity Fundamentals for Business Leaders
  3. 3. Navigating disruption — Transformational Leadership amid Disruption
  4. 4. Collaborative leadership —  Cultivating Cross-Team Collaboration and Innovation
  5. 5. Grappling with change — Leading and Managing Change
  6. 6. Cultivating teams — Coaching and Mentorship Capability
  7. 7. Branding — Brand Management Programme

For AI Transformation — (Generative) AI for Business Leaders (Or Government Leaders)

Artificial intelligence has dominated business discourse, yet most companies have struggled to translate experimentation into measurable results. A 2025 report by the MIT Initiative, titled The State of AI in Business found that 95% of organisations see no return on enterprise investment into generative AI.

The report attributes this to a fundamental misunderstanding of how AI should be used. Many organisations deploy AI simply as a general chatbot to improve individual productivity, rather than developing customised tools that improve company-wide workflows.

For business leaders, the challenge is not just understanding how AI works, but how it can transform organisational processes and strategy. The Generative AI for Business Leaders course by National University of Singapore focuses precisely on this gap. Delivered in person over a full day, it introduces the fundamentals of generative AI before moving into strategic applications such as digital transformation initiatives, retrieval-augmented systems, and innovation strategies. It also addresses governance and ethical considerations, equipping leaders to make informed and responsible decisions about AI deployment.

Cybersecurity — Cybersecurity Fundamentals for Business Leaders

The rise of AI also heightens the importance of cybersecurity, as new technologies can create additional vulnerabilities if deployed without proper safeguards. While cybersecurity has traditionally been treated as an IT issue, the growing frequency and scale of digital breaches show that it is increasingly a leadership concern.

Strategic decisions about digital tools, AI systems, and data infrastructure can expose organisations to significant risks if leaders lack a basic understanding of security principles.

The Cybersecurity Fundamentals for Business Leaders course by The Learning and Training Consultancy addresses this gap. Participants learn how to apply recognised frameworks such as the NIST Cybersecurity Framework and ISO/IEC 27001 to assess their organisation’s security posture. Alongside these frameworks, the programme covers risk management, regulatory compliance, and communication strategies that help leaders foster a culture of cybersecurity awareness across the organisation.

Technological developments, global supply chains and geopolitical tensions have made the business environment more unpredictable than ever. Leaders must arm themselves both with internal resilience and the ability to make decisive choices to aid organisations in adapting quickly.

These skills and more are covered in Transformational Leadership amid Disruption, covered by Nanyang Technological University’s Nanyang Business School. The last in a trio of modules teaching Transformation and Leadership, the four-day module covers change management, emotional intelligence, decision-making under uncertainty, and supplementing self-assessment with practical leadership frameworks. Although the course focuses on technological disruption, its frameworks apply broadly to leaders navigating any form of organisational change.

Collaborative leadership —  Cultivating Cross-Team Collaboration and Innovation

Along with managing external disruption, leaders also have to manage internal tensions. As organisations grow, leaders increasingly work with other leaders — each individual oversees teams with different functions, priorities, and incentives, resulting in very different backgrounds, viewpoints, and ways of communicating, which may cause unexpected tensions.

The course Cultivating Cross-Team Collaboration and Innovation equips professionals with tools to navigate these dynamics. Focussed on leaders in particular, it introduces systems-thinking approaches to examine incentives, organisational structures, and workplace environments to aid collaboration. Ultimately, this course seeks to help leaders work together, addressing competing priorities across teams and find complementary solutions.

Grappling with change — Leading and Managing Change

The next course, Leading and Managing Change, grapples instead with change. The workplace is evolving rapidly, and its difficult for people to keep up. This course covers ways for leaders to navigate and guide others through rapidly changing circumstances.

Participants explore the psychology behind change resistance and learn to use models such as the change curve to understand employee reactions. The course also teaches leaders how to conduct stakeholder analyses, communicate transformation agendas, and design influence strategies that engage their team and help them adapt comfortably.

Cultivating teams — Coaching and Mentorship Capability

Beyond managing change, effective leaders must also nurture the next generation of talent. Strong coaching and mentorship can help sustain motivation, encourage innovation, and reduce employee turnover.

The Advanced Certificate in Talent Assessment and Performance Development Module 4: Coaching and Mentorship Capability focuses on how leaders can unlock employee potential. Delivered by Singapore Management University, the course introduces coaching techniques that help leaders guide team members, sustain motivation, and align individual ambitions with organisational goals.

By emphasising structured mentorship and talent development strategies, the programme reinforces the people-management skills that underpin long-term success.

Branding — Brand Management Programme

Finally, branding remains one of the most strategic yet frequently misunderstood aspects of business leadership. While often associated with marketing, brand is fundamentally about how an organisation is perceived by employees, customers, and investors.

A coherent brand identity helps companies attract skilled talent, align internal culture, and build long-term trust with stakeholders. This has only become even more important in the digital era, where public perception can shift quickly and competition is just a button tap away.

The Brand Management Programme by Global Brand Academy focuses on the strategic side of branding rather than simply visual identity. Conducted in a classroom setting, the course guides participants through identifying a brand’s core identity, testing branding initiatives, and establishing internal guidelines to ensure consistency across teams.
