Private members club Mandala Club has partnered ICON1C, a luxury hospitality group backed by Catcha Group, a Kuala Lumpur-based internet business firm, which has made inroads in the luxury hospitality industry.
In 2022, Catcha Group, founded by entrepreneur Patrick Grove, acquired Amber Lounge, which is famed for its glamorous afterparties during the Formula 1 race season in Singapore, Monaco, Las Vegas and Ahu Dhabi.
The partnership is expected to boost Mandala Club’s offerings, granting its members access to ICON1C’s global network of events, bespoke travel experiences, and luxury wellness programs and concierge services.
Ben Jones, Mandala Club’s founder and chairman, describes the move as a “transformative step” for the club. “This partnership allows us to introduce innovative concepts, enhanced services, and new locations while staying true to our mission of fostering meaningful connections and a vibrant cultural ecosystem,” he says.
Joining the fold of the ICON1C group also signals an ambitious expansion strategy for the Mandala Club, as it plans to expand into Indonesia, Japan and other key Asian cities.
ICON1C’s Chairman, Patrick Grove emphasises the deal’s significance, stating that Mandala Club aligns with the company’s vision of modern luxury. “Mandala Club represents everything we value at ICON1C—authenticity, innovation, and a deep commitment to creating exceptional experiences. Together, we will unlock new opportunities and deliver extraordinary value to a discerning global clientele,” he says.
Mandala Club, which opened in 2021 in a heritage building on Bukit Pasoh Road, has established itself as a networking hotspot among professionals through cultural exchange, fine dining and curated events. It is known for organising pop-up restaurants with renowned chefs and hospitality brands. In February, it concluded a two month-long pop-up, A Taste of Italy with four Italian restaurants from hospitality group, Belmond.
The move to be part of ICON1C places Mandala Club within a larger framework of luxury lifestyle brands, reflecting a shift in the industry where exclusivity is increasingly defined by access and experience rather than material goods.
For members, the integration is expected to bring perks, including access to ICON1C’s high-profile events, such as Amber Lounge. The move also strengthens ICON1C’s foothold in Asia’s growing luxury market, as it curates and organises regional and global high-end experiences.
