Yesterday, Trip.com released the second edition of its Trip.Best annual rankings, featuring the top 100 travel related establishments globally and in Asia. Singapore has considerable showings across the hospitality, restaurant, and entertainment industry. In particular, it is living up to its reputation for being a food paradise.
Places to go
To curate the rankings, Trip.Best uses a mix of AI-driven data analysis, user reviews, and human expertise. It looks over travel-related establishments and ranks them according to these four parameters: service quality, popularity, reputation, and special features (its differentiating factor).
Correspondingly, a number of luxury hotels in Singapore made it to the top ten rankings in Asia and the world. Raffles Hotel maintained its ranking in first place, marking it as the best luxury hotel in Asia. Globally, the colonial-era luxury hotel ranks second, behind the Hotel de Crillon in France.
Meanwhile, Marina Bay Sands was crowned the most Instagrammable Hotel and Best Gourmet hotel — in both Asia, and the world. The former title comes as no surprise; MBS is one of the most recognisable and photographed locations in Singapore, while the latter award comes thanks to the numerous celebrity chef restaurants and local cuisine offerings within its borders.
Other notable entries include The Fullerton Bay Hotel Singapore, ranked as the ninth most Instagrammable hotel in Asia; Swissotel The Stamford Singapore, placing at fifth best Gourmet hotel in Asia; Hilton Singapore Orchard placing at eight; and the Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore coming in ninth. Overall, 40% of the top ten Gourmet Hotels in Asia are from Singapore.
Food to eat
With that considerable number of Gourmet Hotels, Singapore’s food establishments have also made a showing on the restaurants lists.
In particular, restaurants located within luxury hotels have fully leveraged their locations. Coming in first in Asia and tenth in the world for the Views and Experiences Restaurant rankings, Spago Dining Room by Wolfgang Puck sits on the 57th floor of Marina Bay Sands, offering guests California-inspired cuisine and a view of Singapore’s iconic waterfront.
Across the waterway, JAAN by Kirk Westaway occupies the 70th floor of Swissotel The Stamford Singapore. This restaurant pairs similarly stunning views with modern British Cuisine, sitting at fifth place for the Trip.Best Asian Views and Experiences Restaurant ranking.
Fine dining lovers will also recognise Odette, the three Michelin-starred restaurant located in the National Gallery. The restaurant serves five-to-seven-course menus rooted in modern French cuisine, earning first in Asia and 16th globally on the Fine Dining list.
Singapore’s local food has also been recognised, with Song Fa Bak Kut Teh placing as first Light bites Restaurant in Asia, while Jumbo Seafood — famous for its chili crab — and Chatterbox — known for its Hainanese chicken rice — ranked second and fifth respectively in the Local Restaurants category.
Activities to do
Last but not least, Singapore has a plethora of world class attractions that rank well. Gardens By The Bay ranks first on the Nightlife Attraction in Asia, with Singapore Flyer at fourth, and Marina Bay Sands SkyPark sitting at 10th place.
Attractions in Singapore also cater to families. Universal Studies Singapore and Night Safari are fifth and 10th best Family Friendly attractions in Asia.
“The city’s clean aesthetics, safe and efficient transportation system, and wide variety of attractions and lifestyle options make it an attractive destination for all kinds of travellers.” said Edmund Ong, General Manager, Trip.com Singapore.
“With Singapore’s luxury hotels, restaurants and attractions taking top spots in Asia and around the world on the 2025 Trip.Best Global Rankings, this showcases the city-state’s ability to deliver exceptional experiences to all travellers, solidifying its position as a world- class destination for travel.”
