Head to these urban farms for an informative tour or simply a fun day out with friends and family.

Find out where you can enjoy a slice of nature in these farms that are open to public. Go for a short tour and perhaps lug back some freshly harvested vegetables, herbs and fruits for your home-cooked meals. When garden produce is fresh and ripe, it not only tastes excellent, it also provides the best nutrition possible.

1. The Sundowner

Established in 2020, The Sundowner offers a one-of-a-kind rooftop farm experience for you to take a respite while learning about natural in our bustling urban landscape. For over two hours, you’ll get to reconnect with nature on a rooftop farm at a conserved shophouse in the Siglap area (705A East Coast Road).

What’s interesting are the rescued bees buzzing around the farm. The adventurous can don a bee suit and go up close to observe their hives and colony. You’ll then get to savour a flight of exotic honeys from the extensive Southeast Asia-focused honey library. And wrap up the evening with a freshly prepared cocktail complete with garden herbs.

The Sundowner offers two-hour experiences for activities such as Organic Farming Class, Bee Encounter, and Farm-to-table Tastings (all 40 minutes long). Besides the farm, there are also fun F&B experiences, too, including cocktail mixing classes and pizza making experience followed by dinner. You could also book the whole rooftop and bar for exclusive use. Note that the place is open by appointment only.

2. Natsuki's Garden

Inspired by charming farmers' markets overseas, the owners of Natsuki farm founded this place in 2020. Their aim is to offer high-quality locally grown specialty produced with a significantly smaller carbon footprint. All the plants are sustainably and responsibly grown, non-GMO and synthetic pesticide-free. Veggies and fruits here are generally picked at the peak of their ripeness.

The farm grows a huge range of vegetables like Jerusalem artichokes, carrots, potatoes, Japanese sweet corn and radishes. You’ll find all manner of fragrant basil from Greek and Thai to Italian and different types of eggplants, peppers and melons. Sometimes there are also unique items such as specialty cucumbers and tomatoes, white bittergourd from Japan and Abashi Okinawa bittergourd among others.

To find out which produce is available to order and collect, check out Natsuki Farm’s social media. The garden sells specialty seedlings if you want to grow your own plants. Find out online which is in stock and head there to self-collect.

The greenhouse located at Sprout Hub (102 Henderson Road) is open to the public on Saturday mornings (till 11am).

3. Kin Yan Agrotech

Located further from town (near the Sungei Buloh Wetlands Rerserve) is Kin Yan, Singapore’s largest wheatgrass and mushrooms farm. The pesticide-free farm at 220 Neo Tiew Crescent grows all types of mushrooms from Golden Spring and King Oyster mushrooms to fresh black fungus.

Go for an organic farm tour to learn how technology improves farm processes and productivity. You’ll find out more about the different uses and benefits of wheatgrass, pea sprouts, edible cactus, aloe vera and more. And of course buy farm products and enjoy a sample tasting session. Each visitor will receive a bottle of fresh rosella drink, a pack of pea sprouts and pea sprouts growing kit, and mushroom growing kit. Farm tour packages are available for booking online.

4. Fleur House

Fleurhouse began in 2020 to make the indoor growing of microgreens accessible to everyone. The owners introduced their first product – the “Microgreen Planting Kit” -
which became very popular. Subsequently, they started conducting workshops and introduced a farm tour experience centred around their Orchid Farm, Edible Flower Garden and Microgreen Garden.

Guests will round off each guided tour by harvesting ingredients for their own refreshments. At the workshops, learn about the basics of soil care , microgreens and various ways to use them. All guests will receive a family planting kit and mini herb plant at the end of the session.

Edible Farm Tours run on every first and third Sunday of the month. Tour timings are at 8am, 10am or 12pm and each session is about 1 to 1.5 hours.
