Malt & Wine Asia’s Great Palate returns for its second edition in 2025, bringing together over 200 whisky and spirits labels under one roof. Held in the Grand Ballroom of PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay, the two-day event promises a relaxed yet immersive walkabout tasting experience, with 15 distillery owners and representatives joining the festivities.

Each ticket includes 20 tasting drams, one cocktail, and a commemorative tasting glass—enough to keep both seasoned collectors and curious newcomers exploring.

This year, the event also marks Singapore’s 60th birthday with a special showcase of SG60 bottlings created in partnership with distilleries around the world.

“We are truly excited by the final list of SG60 single cask exclusives with our distillery partners,” said Alex Yong, founder of Malt & Wine Asia. “These represent a piece of Singapore’s story and are collector’s items that tell of our nation’s heritage.”

A SG60 special

Among the standout SG60 releases is a single-cask bottling by Japan’s Mars Distillery One of the brands most notable achievements was with its Mars Maltage 28 Year Old, which was awarded the World’s Best Blended Malt Whisky in 2013 at the World Whisky Awards. Bottles by the brand continue to win awards at the World Whisky Awards, and have become a cult classic about enthusiasts.

Malt & Wine Asia has teamed up with the distillery for a set of three bottles, featuring labels by Singaporean illustrator Lee Xin Li.

Adapting from his work “In Our Time,” which was first exhibited in 2018, Lee hopes to reference Singapore’s evolution across time on the labels. This looks at how Singapore’s history, architecture, culture, and live experiences each build on one another and form a new layer as time passes.

“Like the whisky that develops its flavour over aging and in the different environments, the Singapore story is a product of its development, age and layers built over the years in its journey,” reflected Lee. “Just as a whisky from Yakushima or the mountains of Nagano has its own distinct flavour and texture, the Singapore we have today at SG60 is born out of its unique history, geography, rich mix of cultures and more.”

Limited-edition tipples

Great Palate 2025 will also see the debut of several international releases. These include Goalong, a Chinese single malt that picked up six gold medals at the 2024 World Whiskies Awards; and Gu Yue Long Shan Huang Jiu, known for its traditional yellow wine, once showcased at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Also notable is the limited-edition Godzilla Umiki Blended Whisky, which will be specially launched on both days. This bottle was created in celebration of Godzilla’s 70th anniversary. Finished in Japanese cedar, hand-crafted by Hashimoto Shitsugei Studio, each bottle blends traditional Shitsugei Laquer with gold and shell inlays, producing a unique commemoration to Japan’s first Kaiju and ongoing franchise.

Masterclasses and a cause

Alongside tastings, Great Palate 2025 will host a series of masterclasses led by industry experts, including Mastering Japan’s Finest: Sakurao & Togouchi Unveiled by Taihei Yamamoto, a deep dive into Japanese whisky; Goalong: The Art of Chinese Single Malt by Alan Gao, an introduction to the new debut; and Embark on a journey with Samaroli: Italy’s iconic Independent Bottler in collaboration with award-winning SKLO crystalware by Daniele Liberati.

One session worth noting is Meet the Indies – An Exploration Beyond the Big Labels, featuring five independent bottlers from Singapore and a blind tasting flight. It highlights the growing presence of small, Singapore-based distillers offering unique alternatives to mainstream brands — six of which will be part of Great Palate 2025.

On the last day of the event, Malt & Wine will be hosting a charity auction where two special casks — Cask No.1 and Cask No.60 — will go under the hammer. Proceeds will benefit St John’s Home.

Great Palate 2025: Whisky and Spirits Edition will take place on the 5th and 6th July, 2025, from 1 to 8pm at the PARKROYAL COLLECTION Marina Bay, Grand Ballroom. More details can be found here.
