Homegrown food and beverage group Surrey Hills Holdings, the company behind the popular cafe chain  Surrey Hills Grocer, continues to expand their restaurant portfolio with not just one, but three new restaurants.

The group will be opening these new restaurants at Raffles City Shopping Centre: Taiwan’s Bon Broth, Japan’s Mensho Tokyo, and Australia’s Mo Vida.

Bon Broth

Surrey Hills Holdings appears particularly enthusiastic about Bon Broth, which is opening its first restaurant in partnership with them.

Part of this excitement stems from the brains behind the restaurant: Andre Chiang. Chiang previously won Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants’ Diners Club Lifetime Achievement Award back in 2018. The chef-restaurateur was also helmed Restaurant Andre, which achieved two Michelin Stars and was second on Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants in 2017 before its closure in early 2018.

Chiang’s new restaurant will serve brews concocted in his broth lab in Taipei, Taiwan. These brothers are made with a combination of French bone broth and Chinese double-boiled soup.

Bon Broth is slated to open in Q4 this year.

Mensho Tokyo

For those who prefer Japanese ramen, Mensho Tokyo will be more appealing.

The ramen restaurant was founded in 2005 by Chef Tomoharu Shono.

Shono takes care to balance the five elements of ramen — the sauce, soup, noodles, oil, and toppings — in each bowl that he serves, and effort that appears to have paid off, considering the numerous awards that Mensho Tokyo has achieved, including Tokyo Ramen of the Year and the Shinjuku Ramen Grand Prix.

Mensho Tokyo has been successful outside of Tokyo as well, with 17 outlets worldwide.

The new restaurant at Raffles City will be the 18th branch, and will open later this month, on July 20. In addition to serving Singapore-exclusive creations, Mensho Tokyo’s menu will include desserts, which have not been served in other outlets before.

MoVida

Rounding out the trio of new openings is MoVida, from Australia.

The first MoVida restaurant in Australia, MoVida Original, was awarded two hats by Australia’s The Age Good Food Guide shortly after its opening. This guide awards restaurants with one to three hats, with three hats marking an exceptional dining experience.

The restaurant serves Spanish cuisine, and its Singapore branch will be led by Adrian Clemmens, the ex-head chef and a founding member of MoVida Original.

Alongside award-winning wines, MoVida will be serving popular dishes from their Australian menu and Singapore exclusive dishes. This restaurant will be opening just a week after Mensho Tokyo, on the 27th of July.

“At Surrey Hills Holdings, we are constantly on the lookout to work with like-minded partners to introduce their world-class cuisines to Singapore,” says Pang Gek Teng, CEO of Surrey Hills Holdings.

“Bon Broth, Mensho Tokyo and MoVida Original are founded by extremely talented and acclaimed chefs who are committed to bringing out the most amazing flavours from the simplest ingredients. Their food is thoughtful, thought-provoking and most importantly, delicious. I cannot wait for all of you to try them.”
