Ask about the best coffee shops in Singapore, and you’ll likely be pointed in different directions — some might lead you to their favourite spot for a strong flat white, while others might swear by the kopi poured out of a time-worn sock at their local kopitam.

That’s why this list of best coffee places in Singapore runs the gamut: from award-winning custom blends to local-style kopi served in fancy cups, sipping a cup of coffee at these upscale coffee shops is an experience you won’t find at standard coffee chain outlets.

Vernacular Coffee

Known since its Guillemard Road beginnings for an unusually deep single-origin programme — with beans sourced from Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam alongside its own in-house roasts — Vernacular has built a reputation among those hunting for the best coffee Singapore has quietly been producing on home soil.

The Selegie flagship, housed on the ground floor of Varel Singapore, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, pairs artisanal pour-overs and espresso shots with an all-day brunch menu by day, then shifts after dark into a relaxed beer garden with drafts on tap and snacks to nibble.

The floor-to-ceiling glass walls and lush greenery outside make it a serene spot to sip coffee and soak up nature.

Apartment Coffee

If there’s a single address that proves Singapore belongs in any global conversation about speciality coffee, it’s this one. Apartment Coffee was crowned the best coffee shop in Asia for the second year running on the World’s 100 Best Coffee Shops 2026 list, landing at sixth place globally.

Award-winning barista Yeo Qing He helms the cafe, and his single-minded dedication to making the best cup of coffee is admirable. Beans are sourced from Colombia to Rwanda, roasted with precision, and placed on a short, rotating menu of hand-brews that tell an origin story.

Café Kitsuné at The Capitol

The Paris-and-Tokyo cult cafe opened its doors at Capitol Singapore and is a chic spot to sip on coffee with a side of people-watching. The coffee here comes from a custom Brazil-Guatemala blend flown in from Café Kitsuné’s roastery in Japan, served alongside a concise menu of pastries, sandos, and the brand’s famous fox-shaped shortbread.

It’s less about rare single-origin theatrics and more about a beautifully designed room and a reliably excellent cup for a stylish coffee break.

Blue Bottle Coffee

Serious coffee fans will recognise the iconic blue bottle and know a good cup of coffee is brewing. Hailing from Oakland, California, the internationally pedigreed Blue Bottle Coffee features small-batch roasts of single-origin beans.

The drip coffee here is their signature — dark and intense — and you can also enjoy it with a dash of milk if you prefer. Look out for Singapore-exclusive pastry collaborations with Bakery Brera, including a coconut kouign-amann and a pandan canelé with kaya.

Few coffee brands have turned minimalism into a signature quite like % Arabica. The Kyoto-born speciality coffee shop has a dine-in space at 313 Somerset, decked in its iconic all-white outfit and trademark bean bags.

The coffee — single-origin beans from Ethiopia, Colombia, and Nicaragua — is best enjoyed three ways here: As a Kyoto latte, with subtle, distinct sweetness; a Spanish latte, infused with condensed milk for a sweet, rich finish; and a Dark Latte, a super creamy coffee with deep chocolaty undertones.

Atlas Coffeehouse

Tucked into a leafy corner of Bukit Timah near the Botanic Gardens, Atlas Coffeehouse remains one of Singapore’s most quietly serious rooms for a cup.

The philosophy here is built on precision, seasonality and quality: beans are speciality-grade and sourced from reputable farms, brewed with the same care that goes into the kitchen’s seasonal, occasionally playful menu (think collaborative drops with local bakeries and craft-food partners).

The industrial-chic space, with its high ceilings and garden views, is a genuine contender for the best coffee shop in Singapore outside the city centre, away from tourist strips.

Formerly known as Papa Palheta, PPP Coffee has been quietly shaping Singapore’s speciality coffee wave for years. PPP Coffee’s new chic, elegant New Bahru outfit goes beyond the usual roster of ethically sourced, in-house roasted beans and offers something genuinely rare.

It runs a weekly Coffee Omakase, held every Friday evening, where guests are guided through a curated flight of exceptional, hard-to-find coffees in a format modelled on Japanese tasting menus. Think of it as drinking coffee, with the reverence usually reserved for wine or whisky.

Nylon Coffee Roasters

Nylon Coffee Roasters has operated out of a modest HDB shopfront in Everton Park since 2012, and that’s the charm of this independent micro-roastery. No fuss, no frills — just a good, honest cup of coffee that has earned its place as one of the best coffees in Singapore.

Think direct-trade, traceable beans roasted on-site, pulled on a La Marzocco machine, by a team that travels personally to origin farms to build relationships with producers.

National Kitchen by Violet Oon

Housed on the second floor of National Gallery Singapore, National Kitchen by Violet Oon is perhaps one of the best coffee shops for those who want to enjoy local kopi in a fine setting.

The house blend here, lovingly nicknamed Kopi VO (short for Violet Oon), blends Arabica and Robusta beans, roasted the old-school Nanyang way—over heat with margarine, then caramelised with sugar — the same way local coffeeshops do it. What sets it apart from a hawker cup is curation, with the doyenne of Singapore’s Peranakan food scene building the blend to her own specifications.

The result is an elevated cuppa, enjoyed as is kopi, with evaporated milk (kopi-C), or black (kopi-O).

Common Man Coffee Roasters

Since opening its Martin Road flagship in 2013, Common Man Coffee Roasters has helped launch Singapore’s modern speciality coffee and brunch culture. The cafe runs its own in-house roastery, which creates two separate profiles from the same beans.

These are an espresso roast developed to hold up to the pressure and intensity of a shot, and a lighter filter roast built to draw out brighter, more delicate notes through pour-over, French press or Aeropress.

The house Signature Blends combine two or three single origins into a consistent, reliable cup, while the rotating UnCommon Collection goes further — small-batch, high-scoring micro-lots built around unusual varietals and experimental processing methods (honey-processed, anaerobic-fermented, and the like) for coffee drinkers chasing something rarer.
